It’s been a busy weekend at St Martin’s…

On Saturday we had the annual Vicarage Garden Party, with plenty of pizza and lawn games 🍕

On Sunday we welcomed Fr John Simpson back to the parish to preach at Mass. Fr John was a curate here from 1967-71.

We are really looking forward to the Ryedale Festival Concert tomorrow, 21st July at 11am.

Please note: there will be no guided tour because of this in the church.

𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗵𝗻 Octet in E-flat, op.20

Two superb string quartets join forces in music conceived on a grand scale, opening with the Aris Quartet playing Schubert’s D minor Quartet 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯 before the NOVO Quartet join for a performance of Mendelssohn’s astonishing Octet, written in a blaze of youthful confidence when the composer was only sixteen.

This concert will be recorded for future broadcast by BBC Radio 3

On Sunday we had the great delight of commissioning Amir Yates as a Community Minister for the Parish. Community Ministers are trained on the Mustard Seed, Diocese of York program to equip them to take on responsibility for outreach in their church. In this role Amir, along with our other Community Ministers, will be exploring how we continue to focus on 'reaching people we currently don't' as a church. Please keep him in your prayers as he begins this new ministry.
