St Issells Church, Saundersfoot

St Issells Church, Saundersfoot We'd love to welcome you to our services! Every Sunday at 10:30am. For further information contact Fr Paul Boyle on [email protected]

Keep upto date with events and services at St Issells. There has been a Church on site for over 1500 years. St Issells is a beautiful and well loved grade II listed building with Celtic origins. The building is of considerable historic and architectural interest for example:
The late Norman Tower c1500 in Carmarthenshire style with it's splayed base
The excellent east window of The Lady Chapel by

Kemp Tower depicting the Annunciation of Our Lady. The font with its carved bowl is amongst the finest Norman examples in the diocese, decorated with scroll patterns of unusual character. The superb Preaching Cross in the Church grounds is in itself a grade II listed building.

You may have noticed some of the changes around St Issell’s recently. These are in no small part in thanks to our dedicated church wardens and church council members, and the members of our congregation and community who support us.
In the past past 18 months or so we have seen:

Our school room redecorated and have a new heating system installed, and an accessible toilet which means it is available for our whole community to use.

We have completely relaid the path and driveway, making it safe for people to walk up to the church, improving access for all.

The old rotten handrails have been removed and replaced.

The doors are being restored.

The church is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week, meaning that those who need the quiet of a sacred space can access it when they need to.

The churchyard has been kept neat with new grass seed being sown around the new path.

Numbers attending church have steadily grown.

There is of course more to do. We have work to do inside the church, decorating, tidying etc., hopefully installing a new lift. But as well as the building we all need to continue on the journey of faith, deepening our relationship with Jesus, always seeking to become better disciples, sharing our faith with others.

A big thank you to all who have played a part in our journey so far!

Gavin Bowen HC Plumbing and Heating; Robert Gilhenny - Rhino Resin; David Canton; Sue & Mike Perry; and all those who have played their part!
