Your apology appears to have been an afterthought. A responsible journalist would have checked, double-checked, and, where necessary, triple-checked before submitting and publishing editorial material—especially when it involves a direct quotation. Accuracy in quotes, context, and content is not optional; it is fundamental to responsible journalism.

What you did goes far beyond a simple editorial error. It was a reckless and deeply troubling misrepresentation that had the potential to cause serious harm to the person and reputation of Dr. Abel Damina.

Why do I say this? Because there is ample video evidence demonstrating that the alleged quote was not his. When the available footage clearly contradicts what was published, dismissing the matter as a mere “error” becomes increasingly difficult to accept. At the very least, it raises serious questions about the level of diligence exercised before publication.

The verdict is out: you have been caught with your pants down. The evidence speaks for itself, and an after-the-fact apology does little to erase the damage caused by publishing something that could—and should—have been verified before it ever went public.
