We warmly invite you to join us at Elmwood for our Sunday service on 14th June at 10:30am when 4Front Theatre will perform The Fisherman's Tail.
Four humble fishermen: Simon, Andrew, James and John, have got a tale to tell - and it all starts with a fishing competition and a strange man who blows everyone’s efforts out of the water.

With a host of hearty original songs and interactive story-telling, Fisherman’s Tail is a fast-paced, funny, whirlwind adventure exploring the life and miracles of Jesus, as four fishy lads figure out what it means to be Jesus’ first disciples!

Catch it while you can!

Hope you can join us.

Life can sometimes feel like a storm - waves crashing, winds howling, and uncertainty all around us. But just as Jesus spoke peace over the raging sea, He speaks peace into our lives today.

"He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, 'Quiet! Be still!' Then the wind died down and it was completely calm." — Mark 4:39

No matter what storm you may be facing, remember that Jesus is in the boat with you. His presence is greater than any fear, challenge, or circumstance. When we fix our eyes on Him, we find strength, hope, and peace that surpasses understanding.

Whatever you're walking through today, trust the One who calms the storm.

How can we pray for you today? Share in the comments or send us a message.

Our current Sunday series is exploring the theme of Pastoral Care.

Serving one another starts with noticing people.

It looks like checking in on a friend, mentoring a young person, sharing your time, giving a listening ear, supporting someone in need, giving generously, or simply showing kindness in everyday moments.

We don’t have to do everything — but we can all do something. Small acts of love, done consistently, can change lives and strengthen communities.

“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18

Our visiting speaker this weekend reminded us of Larry Walters, who was an American man who became famous in 1982 after attaching 42 balloons to a lawn chair and flying thousands of feet into the air over Los Angeles.
This incredible story was made into a musical which Salfordians had the option of seeing at the Lowry.

What started as a plan to float a little above his neighbourhood, turned into an uncontrolled flight reaching about 16,000 feet. He drifted into commercial airspace before eventually descending safely.

His story became known as a symbol of human ambition, risk-taking, and the desire for something more than an ordinary life.

Larry Walkers had said, “I was bored with life. A man can’t just sit around.”

There’s something deeply human in that quote. We were never created to simply exist. We were all made with purpose, movement, and calling.

Some people chase thrills.
Some chase success.
Some chase escape from boredom.

Yet only God gives a life that is truly full.
“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”John 10:10

I read a question this week.
It asked, 'Is you faith something you've only professed or is it something you are actually possessing?'

We of course start off on our faith journey professing our faith in Jesus, but God asks us to take hold of our faith every day and have it reach into all areas of our lives in transforming power.

A faith that is possessed changes the way we live, love, forgive, serve, and trust God — even when life is difficult. It is more than a Sunday confession; it becomes a daily surrender and a personal walk with Jesus.

God is not calling us to simply know about Him, but to truly KNOW Him.
Not just to speak of faith, but to LIVE by it.

Today, take a moment to reflect:
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith.” — 2 Corinthians 13:5

In Japan, there’s an art called Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold. Instead of hiding the cracks, they are highlighted—making the piece even more valuable than before.

The potter doesn’t try to hide the damage. He honours it. He doesn't work to cover up the cracks—they’re highlighted.

What was once broken becomes the most beautiful, most valuable part of the piece.

That’s how God sees us.
Our scars, our stories, our broken places—He doesn’t ignore those parts of our lives or pretend they never happened. Instead, He steps into those places and restores us. Not just back to how we were, but in a way that’s even more meaningful. The hard seasons, the mistakes, the moments that feel like they shatter us are part of the story.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3

If you feel broken today, remember God can make you whole and brings beauty from brokenness.

Gratefulness changes everything. When we pause to reflect on God’s goodness, we begin to see how blessed we truly are. From the gift of life, to family, friends, health, provision, and the peace He gives each day—there is always something to be thankful for.

Even in difficult seasons, gratitude reminds us that God is still faithful, still present, and still working. A thankful heart brings joy, hope, and strength.

Today, take a moment to count your blessings and thank God for all He has done.

What are you grateful for today?

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Last weekend, we had the incredible joy of celebrating baptisms - a powerful moments where individuals boldly declared of lives transformed.

Each story was a reminder that new life in Christ is real, personal, and happening right now.

No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve faced, God is always offering a fresh start. New life isn’t about perfection. It’s about transformation. It’s about stepping into grace, leaving behind the past, and embracing the purpose He has for you today.

We are not defined by yesterday. In Him, we are made new.

Let’s continue to celebrate all that God is doing in and through our church family!

Easter Sunday is all about hope, joy, and new life. What looked like the end on Friday wasn’t the end at all — and that’s the beauty of Easter.

Jesus is alive, and because of that, we have hope that never runs out.
No matter what you’re facing, there’s always more to the story.

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!” – Luke 24:5-6

Take a moment to celebrate, to breathe, and to remember that light always breaks through the darkness.

On Good Friday, we pause and remember the depth of love shown on the cross. ✝️

Good Friday reminds us that even in suffering, God’s grace is at work. Jesus gave everything so we could have life, hope, and freedom.

“But He was pierced for our transgressions… and by His wounds we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5

As we reflect this Easter time, may our hearts be filled with gratitude, humility, and awe. And as we look ahead to Easter Sunday, we hold onto the promise that the story doesn’t end at the cross… resurrection is coming.
