He Has made Everything Beautiful In It’s Time.

Care for the family on the outside

The other week I was able to help a prisoner in one of our Manchester prisons who was deeply concerned about his wife and children on the outside. He has been in prison for a year but now only has a few months left to serve. He is an Iranian and said he is a Christian. However he was distressed about his prison sentence. Without going into too much detail, he claimed that he did not know he had broken the law and wondered how he had ended up in prison. I prayed for him and encouraged him, but he was heartbroken about this and about his wife and children being equally troubled on the outside.

He said his wife has lost a lot of weight through the worry and stress of it all. He asked me to contact her to encourage her. I asked if she attended a local church and he said she didn't but would benefit from doing so. I said I would enquire about churches in their local area that would be appropriate for his family.

The Lord directed me to a church very close to where his family live and I rang a member of their leadership. I explained the situation to him and he said they would be very happy to receive them. I then rang the prisoner's wife and spent some time encouraging her and praying for her. She was expecting my call having had a previous conversation with her husband during a prison visit and was very grateful for my support. She was invited to a barbecue at the church and found it very helpful. She said she will now go to that church regularly.

Unfortunately, her husband has now been shipped out to a prison in Liverpool to see out the rest of his sentence there. She can still visit him but it is more difficult and the visits may not be as frequent. I didn't realise this move was coming up (such is the nature of prison ministry) but I am amazed at God's timing, how He gave me this very short window of opportunity and how He was able to use it in this way.

Please pray for prisoner E and his wife S and their two children, that God will continue to bless them and bring them through rejoicing.

Dear Friends,

Please find our summer edition of Clear Call.

There are two places near the bottom of our street where some hapless soul with a spray can has graffitied the word “WHY”.
I don’t know what irritates me more: the fact that someone feels that they can deface other people’s property, or the fact that they failed to include the question mark that good grammar requires!
“Why?” can be a great question in the right context, especially “why do we do what we do”.
Recently I carried out a personal growth exercise which brought me face to face with the “why?” question. The exercise required that I think about what makes me happiest, most satisfied and most alive? My considered, then somewhat giddy response was “Gospel Transformation!”
I love to witness the change the Gospel makes in myself, in others and in society. I’ve found my God glorifying “why?”.
This edition is all about the Gospel Transformation that goes beyond the personal. While we can never forget the impact of the Gospel on individual lives, we often argue that the love of God extends to the day-to-day issues of life including homelessness, hunger, social exclusion and poverty.
The result of our work can be measured in social impact – the difference we make in the local communities we serve – and that has value at many levels.
We’ve called this edition “For What It’s Worth…”. We hope it will give some insight into the difference that is generated through your partnership with MCM.

Mary And Joseph In Manchester?

Yes, And They Were Looking For Somewhere To Stay!

As Paul made his way to Oxford Road Station one evening he became aware of a commotion when somebody got knocked off their bike. A couple who were sitting nearby got involved to make sure the lady concerned was alright. All was well, but Paul noticed that the couple had a distinct Irish Traveller accent. They had recently arrived in Manchester and were needing accommodation. Having mentioned some signposting possibilities the conversation continued to the couple's need for prayer. Paul asked for their names, and it was easy for him to remember; they were Mary and Joseph.

Brand New Shoes?

And Full Of Beanz!!

Nourish food club was recently invited to pick up just a few clothes from The Co-op Academy in Swinton.
On arrival we found there were brand new shoes as well as new children’s shirts and coats.
There was also lots and lots of cereals and Heinz Beanz and bakery items all thrown in, (not literally!! LOL).
Another car full, another real blessing.
Thank you Co-op Academy!

A Wonderful Testimony…

About Our Wonderful God!

This is a wonderful testimony received from a lady who was helped, through Manchester City Mission, to find permanent accommodation. It has been a joy to get to know her over these last few years and to see how she has turned her house in to a lovely home full of warmth.

We pray that she will continue to see God’s goodness in her life as she continues to put her faith in Him

‘‘My greetings to all at Manchester City Mission.
I come today with joy to share my testimony since my arrival in the United Kingdom and what the Lord has done through wonderful people like Cath and others. I learned about Manchester City Mission through an African woman who attended and bought food from their food club. I was living in unsuitable accommodation and wanted to volunteer. I needed help and guidance because I was new to Manchester, and that's how I learned about the Manchester City Mission and its’ workers. Moved by compassion for my situation they decided to help me through prayer and with the necessary steps, such as finding a permanent ‘home’ and other things that weren't easy. Patience and perseverance allowed me to get my own house and, after finding work, it has been three years now that I have seen the goodness and sovereignty of God in my life. Sometime later, I obtained permanent residency, and my health has improved.
Today, I join my faith with yours and tell you to believe in God's love and be strengthened. I don't know what you're going through right now, but I want to reassure you that the Lord knows you and He will wipe away your tears and change your situation. Above all, don't be discouraged. May the Lord bless you and grant you the desires of your heart. Amen 🙏’’
