6 September 2026 Festival of Creation (Trinity 14)

Dear all

This Sunday sees the introduction by the Church of England with its first new festival for some time. A special liturgy has been prepared, some of which will be included in our services at 9.30 and 11.00.

Portscatho’s RNLI service was held last Sunday with St Anthony Noyse leading us in singing and continuing to entertain us afterwards. Thank you to all who took part with especial thanks to Andy Day who spoke of recent activities of the cliff rescue team. The RNLI mascot Stormy Stan was in attendance as can be seen with me below. Stormy Stan’s visit was a wonderful and rare surprise as he doesn’t make trips to the Roseland very often.

As many of you know, our beloved friend and bellringer, Peter Teague died recently. Please pray for Rosemary at this time. Peter’s thanksgiving service will take place on Thursday 10th September 11.00 at St Just church. All welcome.

Readings: Psalm 89 verses 1-4 and 15-18 and Matthew 10: 40-42

I will sing of your steadfast love, O LORD, for ever;
with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations.
I declare that your steadfast love is established for ever;
your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.

You said, ‘I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to my servant David:
“I will establish your descendants for ever,
and build your throne for all generations.”’

Happy are the people who know the festal shout,
who walk, O LORD, in the light of your countenance;
they exult in your name all day long,
and extol your righteousness.
For you are the glory of their strength;
by your favour our horn is exalted.
For our shield belongs to the LORD,
our king to the Holy One of Israel.

Glory to the Father and the Son,
And to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning is now
And shall be forever. Amen.

Matthew 10 v 40-42

‘Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.’

This is the Gospel of the Lord.
All Praise to you, O Christ

St Just in Roseland and St Mawes churches

Trinity 3 Sunday 21st June 2026

Dear all
Thank you for all who helped out whilst I was away and thank you for your enquiries on my break – I did indeed have a restful and recuperative time.

I have observed on my church visits elsewhere in my times away that most services do provide copies of the readings as, in times gone by, were provided here. I have asked Sophia to produce these for our services and seek your views on whether this is helpful to you in being able to follow the readings in the service

Congratulations to Angela and Alison on making their declarations at the Archdeacon’s Visitation service for Powder and Pydar Deaneries at St Enoder on Thursday evening. Thank you to them for the service and indeed to all who serve in our churches in so many different ways.

Message from Clive Johns -Thank you to you “ALL” for the cards and gifts you gave to me on my retirement from working as Verger / Gardener for the last 27 years at St. Just and St .Mawes churches. Meeting so many people from all over the world and from all walks to life has given me so many memories that I’ll treasure forever. Clive
