In our service this week, at 11 a.m. in St Margaret's Church in the Hope, we'll celebrate a favourite hymn for many people. I'm not telling you which one, as you'll just need to come and find out. But I bet it will be music in a sinner's ears! 😜 Coffee and tea afterwards as always, and we'd love to meet visitors to our beautiful islands.

The church in the Hope will be open again all day tomorrow, Tuesday, from 9 till 4, for anyone who wants a quiet space for remembering, feeling, contemplating, whatever. Coffee making facilities are available in the kitchen, and the Minister will be there for an hour or so from 1030 to wield the kettle or have a chat.

In an age when it is desperately difficult for young adults to navigate the expectations heaped on them through social media, what does the ancient wisdom of Christian faith tell us about squeezing ourselves into the arbitrary rules and norms we impose on each other? And what better freedom beckons us, old and young, instead?
The service in St Margaret's Church in the Hope takes place at 11 a.m. and is followed by refreshments and blether. Everyone is welcome.

This Sunday is one of the Church's majestic moments, Trinity Sunday. It's the final moment of the long telling of the Gospel story that began back on Advent Sunday. We celebrate it in St Margaret's by reflecting on the equally majestic wonder of Creation, made by God the Father, redeemed by God the Son, blown through constantly by God the Holy Spirit. The service starts at 11, is followed by refreshments, and offers a warm Hope welcome to locals and visitors alike.

The church is open this morning, with a candle lit and the sanctuary space empty and waiting. If anyone, of any age, needs just to be still and think and feel and let silent questions bubble, that is your safe space for this time.

On today and tomorrow. St Peter's will be gorgeous!

This Sunday, the Day of Pentecost, our services in Kirkside, Longhope and St Margaret's in the Hope will focus on the surprise that is God. Every time we squash our idea of God into what we think we've always known - and frankly that's often pretty dire and unattractive - those who are most open to God's Spirit are saying 'wow' every day and making other people say 'wow' by the unexpectedness and courage of their love and truth.
Last week the General Assembly of our Church met; we'll look at some wow moments from that, and make the connections!
The service is a live-stream between the two worshipping communities, with refreshments afterwards in both places.
