💛💙 HOPE UNITED MATCHDAY COLLECTION 💙💛

If you’re coming to this Sunday’s Hope United v Brookvale Albion match at Ruskin Drive, St Helens WA10 6RP (3pm kick-off), we’d be grateful for your support.

👟 We will be collecting football boots in both children’s and adult sizes. We support people from across our St Helens community and will make sure every donation finds a good home.

🥫 We will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the amazing St Helens Borough Mobile Pantry. Alongside our matchday sponsors Halton & St Helens Voluntary and Community Action and the Food Alliance, they do incredible work supporting local people facing hardship.

âš½ Football has the power to bring people together, and every donation will help make a difference in our community.

We can’t wait to welcome you all to our safe, inclusive football club.

💛💙

We are saddened to hear of this racist incident occurring in The Minster today at what was a wonderful celebration of the richness of the voluntary sector in our borough. The Minster is proud to be a place of welcome and also of hope and safety.

All are welcome and we know that not everyone thinks the same. However, if the language you use and comments you make have caused others to feel unsafe and unwelcome then you are missing something vital about the spirit of St Helens Minster.

All people are loved and valued, and welcome here. Racism and prejudice is not.

Rev Rachel

Today, during a volunteer fair hosted by our organisation in St Helens, a member of the public made discriminatory comments towards a local service and the member of staff attending the event.

The individual stated that the service should not be there and that support and services should only be for white British people.

We want to be absolutely clear: racism, discrimination and prejudice have no place at our events, in our organisation or in our communities.

Our volunteer fair was created to bring people together and showcase the many organisations working to support and strengthen our community. We are proud to provide a space where local groups can connect with residents, share information about their work and encourage community involvement.

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion or background. We stand in solidarity with all organisations, volunteers and community members who may experience discrimination, and we remain committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone.

Thank you to the many attendees, volunteers, organisations and St Helens Minster
who helped make today’s event a positive and inspiring celebration of community action.

A week on from a fabulous day celebrating the official redesignation of St Helens Parish Church as St Helens Minster... what a great day it was! It was special this morning to welcome people to Sunday Worship at St Helens Minster for the first time.

Some of the questions we've been asked this week:

"Does Rev. Rachel get a new job title?"

No! Shes still just Rachel

"Do we have to bow to Rev Rachel now?"

No! And please don't, we would all feel weird!

"Does Minster get any more money from the government?"

No! We don't and never have received any money from government! Churches are charities, and all our income is thanks to people using the church building for events, choosing to come to the cafe, and giving financially to help us. If you support the work we do and would like to help support us financially why not become a Friend of the Minster? Email [email protected] to find out more.

You are welcome here.
