The question comes our way at times about the tradition of St Michaels and where we sit in our churchmanship and Theology, and in a church that is diverse, serving a community that is diverse, these are very relevant questions and are very important for those seeking a spiritual home.
St Michaels is a broad church that leans in many directions, and we are proud of this. Here you can find the more formal Book of Common prayer service every Sunday morning at 8:30am, using the old English language. Then on the first Sunday of the month we loose the formality for our cafƩ church service where we explore a range of topics and have guest preachers in at times. Cafe church is probably a little more charismatic and relaxed. Now our main Sunday service is very sacramental with robes, vestments and both modern and traditional Hymns, some using our beautiful organ and others more contempory sound systems.
We also have a 10am Communion service every Wednesday with coffee afterwards.
Theologically, we are broad. As the vicar i like to use a wide range of the whole church's spiritual resources and you can find people here who would identify closer to the more Anglo-Catholic end of the Church of England, as well as those who feel more comfortable identifying more Evangelical. All of this is a blessing which gives this church a somewhat unique blend of people.
The things that we rest on more than anything here is that all are welcome. All. It doesnt matter who you are or where you are from if you are searching for Jesus Christ and want to grow in faith you are welcome here. Also, Jesus is absolutely central to who we are. His life, his teachings, his example is our highest authority.
Young or old, new Christian or a path well trodden, we have a wonderfully welcoming church and you are invited to be a part of this beautiful family.
It would be great to see you !
