A beautiful morning at Church 🙌

We brought our Faith That Works series to a close with Faith That Submits, as Pastor Jon reminded us that true faith is more than simply believing — it’s trusting God enough to surrender to His Word, His will and His ways.

We were challenged to have a faith that says, “But because you say so, I will.” Even when we’re tired. Even when we’ve been disappointed. Even when it doesn’t make sense.

God is calling us to drop our nets again, to go again, to trust again and to make room for Him.

What a privilege to worship, pray, learn and grow together as a church family. ❤️

Here are a few highlights from our Sunday together! 📸

What does it really mean to have a faith that submits?

In this teaching from our Faith That Works series, we explore James chapters 4 and 5 and the powerful invitation to “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7–8.

Faith that submits is not about weakness or losing our freedom. It is about choosing to live under the loving authority of God and trusting Him with every area of our lives. Before we can resist the enemy, we must first submit ourselves to God.

This message explores what it means to live under the Lordship of Christ, choosing humility over pride, God’s will over our own, patience over frustration, and prayer and faithfulness in every season. When we draw near to God, He promises to draw near to us.

Discover why true faith is active trust and how surrender to God brings His guidance, protection, grace and presence into our everyday lives.

As you listen, take time to reflect on where God may be calling you to surrender, trust Him more deeply, and live under the Lordship of Christ.

As Pastor Kevin mentioned on Sunday, Elim Missions are launching an appeal to help resource our Global Partner, who is bringing humanitarian aid to the region. 🙏💙

You can donate to this appeal online here: https://elim.enthuse.com/NepalAppeal

Following the devastating flash floods which have hit Nepal and Tibet, we have been in regular contact with our Global Partner in Nepal to consider what support Elim can offer.

According to Nepal's disaster agency, more than 1,000 people have been killed and over 4,000 more are missing. The impact on infrastructure has been devastating, with roads and villages swept away by the floodwaters.

Our Global Partner has reported that all their churches and partners are safe. However, we have heard that L Ministries, a ministry which is newly linked with Elim through Kensington Temple, has suffered the loss of at least two churches, with more than 80 people missing and over 30 dead.

Today, we are launching an appeal to help resource our Global Partner, who is bringing humanitarian aid to the region.

You can donate to this appeal online here: https://elim.enthuse.com/NepalAppeal

🗣️ What does your faith sound like?

Our words have power. They can build up or tear down, bring life or cause hurt. But what do the words we speak reveal about what’s happening in our hearts?

In Faith That Speaks, Pastor Joe takes us into James 3 and challenges us to think about how our faith should shape not only what we believe and how we live, but also how we speak.

And ultimately, it’s about the most important words we can ever speak: “Jesus is Lord.”

There was such a great atmosphere across Rugby Elim this weekend. From worship and powerful moments in God’s presence to catching up with friends, welcoming new faces and sharing life together, it was a brilliant Sunday.

We’re so grateful for everything God is doing among us and for the incredible people who make our church family what it is. ❤️

Whatever this week brings, let’s carry the joy, faith and expectation of Sunday with us!

In this week’s Faith That Works devotional, Pastor Joe explores James 3 and discover how our words reveal the condition of our hearts. James compares the tongue to a horse’s bit and a ship’s rudder—small things that have enormous influence. Our words have the power to bring life or death, heal or wound, encourage or discourage.

This short Bible study challenges us to examine the way we speak. Are our conversations marked by gratitude, grace and encouragement, or by careless, empty and harmful words? As followers of Jesus, our speech should reflect the transforming work of God in our hearts, pointing others towards His love and truth.

Join Pastor Joe as we explore practical ways to let our faith be heard through the words we speak and discover how God can use our everyday conversations to strengthen relationships, build His Church and bring hope to those around us.

If this message encourages you, don’t forget to like, subscribe and share it with someone who needs to hear it.
