What a great word we had from Anthony Hodgkinson looking into the humanity of Jesus Christ. Jesus was fully God and fully human, experiencing temptation, suffering and human limitations. Yet remained sinless through the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus walked where we walk so we can follow where He leads. We can rely on the same Holy Spirit to resist temptation and to reflect Christ in our worship, relationships and everyday lives.

It's always good to have words that encourage us to look more deeply into our Bibles and to have a greater understanding of what it means to be Christ like.

What an amazing word we had from Barry on Sunday taking the famous "Your Country Needs You" to "Hope Church Needs You." In the Bible, Solomon says, "One standing alone can be defeated, but two standing back to back can conquer." As Christians we are part of God's team called the body of Christ and it is vital we work together to fulfil his mission.

Using the story of Nehamiah, Barry gave us 7 key characteristics of a good team:

1. Good Leadership with vision & purpose
2. Unity of Purpose
3. Using our gifts for the greater good
4. Supporting each other
5. Building one another up
6. Responding to challenges
7. Celebrating success

He then went on to explain the qualities of a good team player and something we can all be mindful of in our everyday life:

1. Consistency & Commitment
2. Support & Encouragement
3. Puts the team first
4. Committed to resolving relational conflict
5. Teachable
6. Submits to authority

What an inspiring yet challenging message from Peter Shaw last Sunday talking about the importance of our faith being visible through action. The main passage last Sunday was Mark 2:1-12, when the 4 men carry a paralysed man to Jesus by going through the roof and Jesus says their faith and through grace heals the man and forgives his sins.

There were 5 markers of the friends faith:

1. It drove them to action
2. They overcame a significant challenge
3.Their faith helped them negotiate difficulty
4. Their actions were extreme
5. They were thorough

This week don't just be a Christian that talks about faith, let it be seen in how you live and act.

On Sunday, Paul shared about Abraham’s faith in action in Genesis 22:12.

Abraham had already sacrificed so much in his life…. Then God said “Take your only son… your much-loved son… and give him to me.”

When it seems God is asking beyond what we can give, He gives us the ability to go further.

We must watch our hearts. What can we give? The greatest gift is obedience.

Genesis 22:12 — “Do not lay your hand on the boy. For now I know that you fear God…”
Abraham wholeheartedly offered everything.

→ How much more are we willing to give?

May God help us to be so satisfied and set free, that we are able to give ALL that God deserves.
He can help us to trust Him.

We cannot protect or preserve the promises God has given us.

There will come a time when God no longer requests flesh sacrifices, but the things of the spirit.

On Sunday Pastor Stephen Prosser bought us 2 kings 11:1-3 & 2 Chron 23:1-3, the story of King Joash.

- God often works through the unseen. A hidden act of faithfulness can become part of His greater plan (Ahaziah hides Joash)

- People who have encouraged our faith are a gift, but our trust must always remain in God. Leaders come and go, but God’s promises never fail—even when circumstances make them seem impossible.

Challenge:
“What happens when the person who has helped us follow God is no longer there?”

The greatest work God wants to do is in our hearts. We may look fine on the outside, but He is most concerned with who we are within.

What happens in your life from Sunday to Sunday is what strengthens our faith.

Maybe God hasn’t stopped speaking… perhaps we’ve stopped listening.
