Good morning everyone,
Pope Francis told us that the Christian truth is attractive and persuasive because it responds to humanity’s deepest needs. So, what is the truth and what are our needs?
The truth is God’s immense love for everyone of us; if I don’t feel loved by God I need to take time before a crucifix or imagine that image. The crucifix is a reminder as to how far God’s love reaches, God joins us even in the very depths of despair for the need in every human is mercy, forgiveness and authentic love.
Today may I give myself a chance to reflect on God’s love for me and may I understand the opportunities ahead to show God my sincere gratitude by bringing mercy, forgiveness and authentic love to those I will meet. Amen.
God bless us all,
Mgr. Desmond Sexton
An aid to today’s prayer from the writings of St Bernard:
When we contemplate ourselves we are troubled and our sadness saves us and brings us to contemplate God; that contemplation in turn gives us the consolation of the joy of the Holy Spirit. Contemplating ourselves brings fear and humility; contemplating God brings us hope and love.
