We are excited to be hosting some wonderful community events this year, bringing together art, music and creativity for people of all ages. 🎨🎶 We'd like to thank Test Valley Borough Council for the grant to make these events possible. The first event is on Saturday 4 July, part of Romsey Festival.

Guided by our artist in residence, Elizabeth Hammond, participants will respond to live music through drawing in the beautiful setting of our church. No artistic experience is needed - just enthusiasm, simply come along and enjoy a creative and uplifting afternoon.

🎵 Musical programme:
11.00am–12noon – Sue Gibbons (flute) with Chris Maxey (piano)
12noon–1.00pm – Birdsong
1.00pm–2.00pm – Percussive instruments
2.00pm–3.00pm – Romsey Voices Choir

Elizabeth says: “The Abbey United Reformed Church is such a peaceful and beautiful building and these creative opportunities will enable us to gather together with people from beyond the church community in really meaningful ways.”

Abbey URC, Romsey is by the arch towards the Memorial Park, just off the Market Place in Romsey - near TSB.

Everyone is warmly welcome. Further details can be found at https://www.romseyfestival.org/events/drawing-music/

Loneliness Awareness Week, organised by the Marmalade Trust, encourages us to talk openly about loneliness and reminds us that by meeting it together, we can build more compassionate and connected communities.

Abbey URC welcomes anyone to The Social Cup which is held every Thursday morning in Abbey Hall from 10.00am–11.30am. It is a safe and welcoming space for anyone looking for companionship, conversation, or simply a friendly face.

To mark Loneliness Awareness Week this June, we will be taking a blank jigsaw puzzle to each of our social events and inviting people to take home a piece - to remind them that they are all a piece of our church community.

We are delighted to welcome Olena, Malcolm and Nataliya to our Community Awareness Service at 10.30am this Sunday, 14 June. During the service Olena will tell us about her experiences as a refugee fleeing the war in Ukraine, whilst Malcolm and Nataliya will share why they opened their homes to refugees from that country. All are welcome to join us to hear their story.

On Wednesday, 3 June, we were delighted to welcome Romsey Voices and Junior Jazzchor Freiburg from Germany. It was a fabulous evening that was enjoyed by everyone, and we are pleased to report that ÂŁ400 was raised for Abbey URC funds.

Thank you so much to all who supported this wonderful event. Your generosity was greatly appreciated!
