This week, Rob will be leading us in meditation and will reflect on the 'Beauty of Goodness' with readings from various traditions. We look forward to welcoming you.

Midweek Meditation ✨🕯

We'll be meeting for our Wednesday meditation tomorrow, from 7.30-8.30pm. We kindly ask that you arrive by 7.25pm - no booking required and it's free to attend (donations welcome).

This week, Joy will be leading the evening and sharing thoughts and inspiration with us all. We'll be taking our summer break over the next two weeks, so there will be no meditation on the 19th and 26th August. We will meet again on the 2nd September.

We are seeking a Maintenance Person to provide maintenance on a part-time basis (approx. 18 hours per week) for Wisdom Centre, Abbey House and the Sisters private accommodation.

It is a great opportunity to work for our wonderful community and in beautiful surroundings. We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, friendly person with common sense, initiative and a good sense of humour to join our friendly team.

Wishing you a blessed and joyful Lammastide, as we celebrate God’s faithful provision and care for the harvest 🌾🍞

Lammas is an ancient festival celebrated on August 1st that marks the beginning of the cereal harvest, traditional bread blessing and seasonal gratitude. Also known as 'Loaf Mass Day' it is closely associated with the Christian tradition. Its popularity in the British Isles is often attributed to its likely role as the Christian counterpart to the Celtic festival 'Lughnasadh' which is celebrated as a solar cross-quarter festival honouring the Celtic craftsman god, Lugh.

It falls midway between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox and is known as 'the first harvest'. Traditionally, a freshly baked loaf of bread from the new grain was brought to church to be blessed, and communities would gather to give thanks for the earth's initial abundance
