Rochester Quakers, Kent, UK

Rochester Quakers, Kent, UK Rochester Meeting is part of "The Religious Society of Friends", aka Quakers. We worship every Sunda Quakers believe our faith is lived through action.

Although we have our roots in Christianity, we find meaning and value in the teachings and insights of other faiths and traditions. We do not share a fixed set of beliefs and you do not need to be a Quaker to share the silence with us at one of our meetings. We work positively and creatively with others to build a more just and peaceful world. Quakers are committed to equality. We share responsibi

lity for our work and worship and our life together without traditional structures or paid clergy. If you are interested and/or would like to know more about Quakers or how meetings for worship work, please do get in touch! We would be delighted to answer any questions. A few of us from Rochester Quakers attended an interfaith pilgrimage around Gravesend last Saturday. It started by the beacon on Windmill Hill where some Pagans led a blessing. We then walked down to the Spiritualist church to hear about their beliefs. The next port of call was a Hindu temple in the town centre where we were welcomed with a talk and a snack. The Mosque was next where we heard about Islam and verses from the Holy Koran were chanted; again there was food! We finished at the grand Gurdwara (the largest in Europe) where we had a tour and yet more food.

It was so lovely to have conversations with others from different faiths and feel a connection with them, although our paths may be different.

BREAKING: Multiple Quakers arrested while worshipping in silence outside huge DSEI arms fair at the ExCel Centre. We believe God is in everyone. Killing or maiming people is not morally justifiable, nor is the trade in arms. We uphold those arrested during a peaceful religious service, honouring those affected by weapons of war.

These photos were taken in Fenny Drayton, where George Fox was born. I (John) nominated him for a plaque. I was born near Fenny Drayton. The plaque is on the wall of the C of E church. The most underrated person in English history came from a hamlet near Leicester.
