Yesterday to start our summer programme the whole Company met together at Honeyhill Campsite for a day of fun and games. Although it was forecast to rain most of the day we were blessed by only having rain at the beginning and end of the day. The youngsters took part in football, disc golf, axe throwing (plastic I should add), basketball, connect 4, quoits and jenga. They all went home happy and tired.

On Friday we held our Awards Evening where all the young people received the badges for all the work they have completed throughout the year. There were also special trophies for those who we felt had gone above and beyond. It was great to see the church full with young people, their families and friends as well as members of Frindsbury Baptist Church. The Awards were presented by Jack Deans who was Captain of 2nd Strood for many years until he retired about 15 years ago.

Last night our Anchors and Juniors were looking at gentleness. After a game of Ship/Shore lead by our Seniors (designed to wear them out) we made biscuits which required gentle mixing of the ingredients. While they were cooking we played jenga (gently removing the bricks) and had a race where they had to run gently as they had a feather balanced on a paper plate on their head. They then made masks showing that their super power is gentleness. Finally they ate the biscuits they had made before going home.

Last night we looked at the life of David Attenborough on his 100th birthday. We also tried to identify some wild animals using clues given to the youngsters and we "played web of life", which looked at the interaction between animals and the environment. Finally we coloured in some pieces of a picture issued by BB HQ. We will send them in to HQ who will choose the best ones to recreate the large picture of David surrounded by animals to send to him as a thank you for all he has done.
Company and Seniors played ball games and also a game of "Guest of Honour" Where, through questioning, they had to work out who the gatecrasher was at a party.

Yesterday we took 9 of our Anchors to Sidcup, the home of 12th Bromley Boys' Brigade, to take part in a Battalion craft afternoon. They had lots of fun making pencil holders, making book marks and key rings as well as glass painting. It was also good for them to meet other Anchors from local companies.

Last night, after a quick game of Simon Says, Anchors and Juniors looked at Palm Sunday and Easter. We started by watching a video about the Easter story and then went into games. The. games including a relay race of tossing the cloaks - they had to toss a bean bag along the line using tea towels as cloaks. They also searched for palm branches and cloaks which had letters on them to make the word Hosanna! Another game involved listening to the story of Palm Sunday and racing down the hall and back when they heard certain words. Finally there was a game of pin the palm branch to the donkey. They all enjoyed the evening and went home with an Easter Egg each.

It was a busy weekend for our Anchors and Juniors. On Friday we looked at emojis. As part of this they played emoji bingo, designed their own new emojis, tried to share the emoji they were thinking of with mime and looked for joyful emojis. This led to a talk about how joy is a good feeling and how, when we have bad feelings, we can talk to God who is our helper.
On Saturday 8 of our Anchors and Juniors took part in the South East Battalion Fun Run at Honeyhill. Of the 8 of them we are proud to report that 2 won gold medals. 2 won silver medals and 1 won bronze. Well done to all of them.
Company and Seniors had a night on Friday with 2 of the Seniors organising the evening to see how it feels to be a leader. It must be said that they did a good job with games of hockey and stealing the keys. They also looked at moral dilemmas with a view of taking this further next week by looking at Judas and his betrayal of Jesus.

Last night Anchors and Juniors had lots of fun looking at giraffes. They started by watching a video called giraffes can't dance and then played games such as crossing out numbered circles on a giraffe by rolling a dice, working out true and false facts about giraffes, rolling pom poms along a table to land on a giraffes tongue and playing card games with a pack of giraffe cards. Company had a fiercely fought quiz between the squads.
