🌿 New Monthly Service at St George's Church, Oakenrod 🌿

Looking for a little space to pause, reflect and simply be?

We're delighted to invite you to Breathe – a new monthly contemplative service at St George's Church, Oakenrod.

🗓️ Sunday 9th August
🕖 Arrive from 7.00pm for a 7.30pm–9.00pm service

Led by The Rev. Jason Powell, Breathe is a gentle, reflective act of worship, offering time for stillness, prayer, music and quiet reflection in God's presence.

Whether you're a regular churchgoer, exploring faith, or simply in need of a peaceful hour away from the busyness of life, you are warmly welcome.

This new venue is supported by the Deanery and Bishop Mark, and from August onwards it will take place on the second Sunday of every month at St George's Church.

🌞 You're Invited to Our Summer Gala! 🌞

Join us this Saturday 11th July, from 2.00pm to 4.00pm, at St George's Church, Oakenrod for a fun-filled afternoon at our Summer Gala!

There'll be plenty to see and do for all ages, including games, stalls, refreshments, and a warm community welcome.

Your Church is ready for tomorrow's Funeral Service for Richard S GREENWOOD, former Solicitor and railway enthusiast.

For those who are travelling, please be aware that the church car park has a limited number of spaces, a few of which will be reserved for those with limited ability to walk far. Otherwise, there is plenty of on-street parking nearby.

As we begin the sacred season of Lent, you are warmly invited to join us at St George’s Church for our Ash Wednesday Service.

Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent — a time for reflection, prayer and renewal. During the service, there will be the Imposition of Ashes, Holy Communion, and space for quiet contemplation as we prepare our hearts for the journey towards Easter.

Whether you are a regular member of our congregation or visiting for the first time, you will find a warm welcome at St George’s.

🎄 Merry Christmas from St George’s Church! 🎄

We wish you and your loved ones a joyful and peaceful Christmas, filled with hope, light, and the love of Christ.

✨ Looking ahead: our next service will be on Sunday 28th December, as we gather to commemorate the Holy Innocents. All are very welcome to join us.

🎶 Thank You from St George’s Church 🎶

Before everyone headed off to enjoy mulled w**e, mince pies, and the raffle in the hall, we wanted to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to Freda Farnworth, Graham Chamberlain and Harmony Choir. They work incredibly hard to bring us such a beautiful and uplifting seasonal programme, and we’re so grateful for the time, care, and dedication they share with us.

All of the proceeds from the concert are being donated to St George’s Church, and we’d like to thank everyone for their generosity and support.

And finally, thank you to everyone who came along, including Oscar the dog — for listening, for joining in, and for helping to make the evening such a special and shared experience. 🎄✨
