🌿🌳 Another amazing effort from our wonderful GARDENING GANG 🌿🌳

It was definitely tough going in the sunshine for them yesterday 🥵, but what a fantastic job they’ve made of the churchyard.

It’s such a large area and we are so grateful for the time, effort and equipment provided by so many people - it really is very special to see our community coming together for a common purpose.

So many volunteers turned up yesterday, to help with strimming the grass, weeding, planting new shrubs & plants, cleaning pathways & general maintenance. Unfortunately the grass is growing faster than we can deal with at the moment but our volunteers are doing a fantastic job.

Special thanks to Chris and Julie for organising and to; Andy, David, Nick, Gary, Val, Sally, Gill, Tony, Kenny, Diane, Sam, Mike, Corrina, Jill, Joseph

We meet every 3 weeks and are a friendly group so watch out for our next event date if you would like to join in.

💚♻️ Please support our day school by bringing in your CLEAN plastic tops from bottles, jars and tubs 💚♻️

We’ll collect in church and get them to school in time for their spiritual art project.

🌱🌿St Thomas’ Gardening Gang 🌱🌿

The date for our next meet up is: Saturday 30th May

There will be someone in the churchyard from 8:30 - 12noon

It would be lovely to see you there, even if it’s just for an hour, it all really helps!

We’re hoping for good weather so we can get lots more done in preparation for the 150th Anniversary celebrations.

Each year, following the Annual Parochial Church Meetings (APCM), church officers take part in the Archdeacons’ Visitations - an important moment in the life of our diocese.

These services formally admit new churchwardens and invite PCC members and sidespersons to renew their commitment to parish mission and ministry. They are a legal milestone and a time of prayer, encouragement, and community.

This year’s Visitations are especially significant as they will be the final ones led by Archdeacon Rachel before her retirement – a chance to give thanks for her faithful support across the archdeaconries of Salford and Bolton.

As Archdeacon Rachel prepares to retire from her role as Archdeacon of Salford and Bolton, all are invited to a special service of Evensong at Manchester Cathedral on Sunday 5th July 2026 at 5:30pm.

Please save the date and join us as we give thanks for Rachel’s ministry, hold her in our prayers, and gather to wish her a fond farewell.
