"But now Christ is risen. The dawn has come" Alleluia Amen.

An awesome service of light this morning at St James, Ashworth, at 6.15am, with the sun rising above the valley as the words of John's Gospel proclaimed.

Thank you to all who came and those that prepared the bacon butties, tea, coffee and no alcohol fizz!

A beautiful service at St Paul's this afternoon for Good Friday, including music, hymns, prayer, scripture and poetry. Poems from the perpsective of the woman at the well, Pilate's wife, Mary wife of Cleopas, Mary Magdalene, Mary mother of Jesus,, the Soldier and King.

We continued our Holy Week series of services tonight with a Maundy Thursday shared meal at St Michael's.

We listened to the words of Jesus breaking bread and sharing the cup of the new covenant, his command to "love one another as he loves us" and to follow his example of serving each other, together with prayers, a taizè chant, a hymn and some folk music as we ate our meal.

Thank you to everyone who came and shared food and fellowship.

Tomorrow we have two services, 10am for a Good Friday Liturgy at St Michael's and 2pm at St Paul's for An hour at the cross including reflections poetry, and music.

Another thought provoking service as we spent time in prayer, silence, and listening to scripture, in the third service in the series of Journey Toward the Cross at St James, Ashworth this evening.

Tomorrow, Maundy Thursday, we will be having a bring and share meal, with prayer, singing, and scripture, St Michael's 7.30pm, all welcome.

You are warmly invited to join us as we continue our journey through Holy Week.

Journey Toward the Cross, Mon, Tues and Wed when we have a series of contemplative services retelling the events of Jesus' life and ministry upto the Last Supper, including taize chants and prayer.

Thursday we will hear the events of the Last Supper and share in a meal together, please bring food and drink to share.

Friday we have a traditional Good Friday service 10am St Michael's, and an hour at the cross, including poetry, music and reflections at 2pm St Paul's.

Then on Easter Sunday we start early in the morning at St James, Ashworth for a wonderful Dawn Service at 6.15am, followed by breakfast. Later we gather at 10am St Paul's and St Michael's to celebrate Holy Communion and at 3pm St James for BCP Holy Communion.

What an amazing week Holy Week 2026 promises to be!

Date for your diary. St Michael's craft club have been busy again, knitting and crafting beautiful items for their Easter Sale. The stall will be on the 29th March after the Palm Sunday benefice service at St Michael's Church. All proceeds are going towards the new church heating system.
