Make an evening of it this Thursday 👑

Start with Choral Evensong at 5.30pm, sung by our boy choristers and lay clerks, then perhaps enjoy dinner in Ripon before joining us for an evening of Tudor intrigue at Ripon Cathedral.

As part of Tudor Month, Professor John Cooper of the University of York will explore the darker side of Elizabethan England, a world of conspiracy, rebellion and political danger.

How close did Elizabeth I come to being assassinated? What role did Mary, Queen of Scots play? What can the evidence tell us about the efforts to uncover and disrupt these plots?

A wonderful opportunity to enjoy cathedral music, explore Ripon and end the evening with a fascinating lecture. Visit Ripon Visit North Yorkshire Ripon BID

Join us tomorrow for our Thursday Lunchtime Concert 🎵

This week we are delighted to welcome Laura Oldfield (mezzo soprano), accompanied by John Treherne, for a beautiful programme of music by Purcell, Pergolesi, Byrd & Machaut.

In keeping with Tudor Month, the programme includes music connected to the Tudor period, with John performing on both Ripon Cathedral's chamber organ and our Renaissance-style keyboard instrument (known as virginals) that has been part of our collection since 1999.

All are welcome to join us.

Tomorrow evening, 7.30pm 🎵

Join us at Ripon Cathedral for the third concert in our Summer Organ Festival as internationally renowned organist Gordon Stewart takes to the console.

Gordon’s programme includes music from five centuries and five countries – one of the highlights is Marche, Lamento and Toccata by Augustin Barié (1883 - 1915). Barié was a brilliant, blind Parisian organist who died at the age of only 31. For organ he left just these three pieces and a symphony.

All are welcome to join us.
