It is with mixed emotions that we share with you the following news:
“Following his recent interview, Archbishop Cherry is delighted to announce the appointment of The Reverend Darren Lynch to the post of Team Vicar in the Islwyn Ministry Area. Darren is currently assistant curate in the Taff Rhymney Ministry Area in the Diocese of Llandaff. Do pray for Darren, his wife Louise and children Rachel, Robin, and Raphael, as they prepare to say goodbye to their current churches and for the churches in the Islwyn Ministry Area as they prepare to welcome Darren.”
The Taff Rhymney Ministry Area is deeply grateful for all that the Lynch family have brought and shared with us. Alongside Darren’s ministry in schools and churches across the ministry area, joyful weddings, precious baptisms and sensitive funerals, we have also been blessed by Louise’s work amongst the people of Bargoed, as well as her journey in Licensed Lay Ministry Training, and the presence of Rachel, Robin and Raphael as they have served and shared in our churches.
Darren and family have been part of our ministry area’s fabric and life since Darren arrived as an Ordinand with Fr Gary, the best part of six years ago, through which we’ve seen Darren grow from a ‘candidate to ordination’, to being a deacon, and then a priest. He has shared many gifts, times, and talents with us, and it has been a blessing to share with him in this journey. As we come to the journeys end in this season, we will update you with dates for Fr Darren’s final service, and licensing date in the Islwyn Ministry Area, as they are confirmed.
We are excited for all that this new season in their adventure with God holds and will continue to pray for them as they follow God’s call.
Remember, it’s Hwyl Fawr; and not goodbye. With prayers and blessing for the Big Fun and Joy in your time ahead.
We look forward to welcoming Darren Lynch to the Diocese
