With the long Easter weekend upon us, I wanted to write inviting you to consider joining us at our poignant service of reflection on Good Friday, 2pm or our lively celebration for all the family on Easter Sunday, 10.30am.

We celebrate Easter in the knowledge that countless generations of Christians – past and present – have had their lives transformed by the good news of Easter.

The death and resurrection of Jesus, literally changes everything!

Easter offers a great opportunity to invite family, friends and neighbours to church to hear about the true meaning of the gospel – the defining point in human history – Jesus Christ, the Son of God crucified and three days later resurrected from the dead demonstrating power over life and death!
Please be praying about who you can invite to an Easter service as research shows the most effective means of invitation is “personal”. Details of all our Easter services can be found on our website.

Whatever religious and cultural origins may lie behind the spring clean, it is not difficult to draw parallels between the Christian tradition of Lent – with its focus on cleaning out bad habits, sins and clutter from one’s life – and the way homes are cleaned after winter. There is clearly value in giving attention to both areas, including our own church building!

On Friday the Terminally Ill Adults (End Of Life) Bill was further scrutinised in the House of Lords. The subject of assisted su***de and how as Christians we understand the implications of what is being proposed, in light of being created in the image of God, has profound implications for society and our nation. Pray that God’s wisdom will be evident through these deliberations.

According to Open Doors 388 million Christians face high levels of persecution and discrimination – that’s one in seven believers worldwide.
To find out more about the immense challenges facing many of our Christian brothers and sisters, a good place to start is the World Watch List 2026

At its launch in Westminster, a record 112 MPs attended – encouraging that this important issue is increasingly in the minds of our politicians.

This Sunday we continue our message series: Always. Only. Jesus.
Based on the New Testament letter to the Colossians, it is in the openingchapter, verses 15 to 20, that we find a powerful hymn describing thesupremacy and work of Jesus – portraying Him as the image of the invisibleGod, the creator and sustainer of all things, and the head of the church, whoreconciles all things to God through the cross.
A few verses definitely worth meditating on …

Going Deeper?
For many the start of a new year is a great time for a reset, or an opportunity to set a challenge.
Perhaps in 2026 you would like to go deeper in your faith and personal discipleship? How about reading through the whole Bible, or going deeper in prayer? The Bible In One Year at https://www.bibleinoneyear.org/ and Lectio 365, a daily devotional resource at https://www.24-7prayer.com/resource/lectio-365/ are both excellent online resources.

A big thank you to all who worked so hard to make the Christmas period a success – inviting guests, delivering cards, decorating the church, leading services and offering hospitality! It was heartwarming to see good numbers of visitors at our Christmas services and the large number of gospel tracts picked up. Let’s pray that many will discover the joy of knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour – the real meaning of Christmas.

Advent begins this Sunday and marks the beginning of a new Christian year. The word “advent” comes from the Latin word adventus, meaning “coming” and reminds us of the coming of Christ – first as a baby and now in anticipation of his second coming as judge of the world.

More than a countdown to Christmas, Advent embraces the way of Jesus and encourages hopeful waiting, courageous peace-making, resilient joy, and self-giving love in our still-suffering world.
