Well somehow I made it round the Edinburgh marathon! Made it over the finish line 13 seconds under the 7 hour mark. It was such a warm day, and I got tired much sooner than I expected, which meant a lot more walking than planned. But the support along the way was incredible, and definitely helped keep me going, along with a few friendly texts! Photo is me with my cousin Helen Boyd. She was about 15 minutes ahead of me, but that’s only because she’s older than I am 😂

Thanks to everyone for the awesome sponsorship. I think between online and in person donations we must be pushing on for £1500. It will be split evenly three ways between Barnardos and the two churches where I minister (St. John's Church, Rathfriland & Drumgooland Parish Church, Ballyward). If by any chance you’d still like to donate, the link is

Thank you again for all your encouragement and support. It made a massive difference today.

A message from Ian our Rector:

Hello everyone, I started a fundraiser on GoFundMe and would appreciate your support. Every single share and donation makes a difference and helps me get closer to my goal.

Hi, Ian here. I’m fast approaching the grand milestone of a half century! It’s fair to say that… Ian Linton needs your support for Ian’s 50th Marathon Madness

Our Diocese hosts occasional 'Encounter' events for women, and the next one is close by in Newcastle. Well worth booking in for this.

We’re heading to the seaside for our next Encounter event on Saturday 6 June when our hosts will be the team at St John’s Newcastle.
