Wishing the new Archbishop of Canterbury, Sarah Mullaly, mazal tov as she enters her first week after her installation.
We say the shechechayanu, a blessing for when something happens for the first time; Archbishop Sarah is the first female Archbishop of Canterbury - and we're delighted such news is happening on our doorstep.
We echo Archbishop Stephen's words in his charge at St Paul's cathedral, "...while the world may be very interested in the fact that you are the first female Archbishop of Canterbury, I think God is very interested in the fact that this is the first time Sarah has been the Archbishop of Canterbury. And the only time. And you receive the baton β or in this case the crosier - from those who have gone before; and in due course you will pass it on."
With the prayer "tefillat haderech", the blessing for a journey, we wish you peace, joy, and collaboration in your tenure, this extraordinary journey.
We look forward to working with you in our local area!
