HUNTS GROVE UPDATE DECEMBER 2025
Dear residents,
We’re writing to clarify the use of Haresfield Lane and the flyover once the A38 junction to Hunts Grove is completed (on track for opening by 20
December 2025):
Haresfield Lane
- Will be open to traffic both ways and will link to the new A38 junction.
- It will have a wearing course (top surface) from the A38 to Wheatenhurst Way.
- From Wheatenhurst Way to Harrier Way it will remain at binder course (sub layer) until early 2026. In the meantime, the manholes that
are currently raised will have additional temporary ramps placed around them as a safety measure. The final wearing course will be
applied to coincide with a programme of kerb remedials and drainage works. This section of road will remain open throughout these final
works, but controlled by temporary traffic lights to single-lane use for a short duration while work is being undertaken.
- White lines, and additional speed ramps and speed tables, will be installed along the full length of Haresfield Lane in stages early next
year. Traffic controls will be in place as needed, for a short duration (dates tbc).
- The footway/cycleway along the A38-to-Wheatenhurst Way section of Haresfield Lane will be surfaced to binder course; the final wearing
course will be laid once the utilities for the adjacent new homes have been installed.
- Pedestrian and cycle access is anticipated to be available along the old section of Haresfield Lane that leads to the B4008 (which is
intended as a permanent route for non-vehicular traffic only). Some final works to surface this path and install a bus stop will be
undertaken early in 2026.
- The bus service will remain on its current route until the bus shelters and stops are installed along the full length of Haresfield Lane and
Stagecoach has confirmed its new route.
- The existing closure of the southern leg of Haresfield Lane (where the road passes the new allotments and over the M5) will remain in
place until GCC provides Technical Approval for the final (one-way) works. In the meantime, temporary access will be provided to the new
allotments.
Flyover
- This will open to one-way traffic as previously (from Quedgeley).
- Additional work will be undertaken on the bridge next year, with further measures designed to support the road’s planned long-term
use. Updates will be provided closer to the time.
Any questions, concerns or suggestions should be directed to GCC via: FixMyStreet ; dangerous driving should be reported to the police by
phoning 101.
We recognise the significant disruption these works have inevitably caused and thank you for your continued cooperation as we progress them
through their final stages. Once completed, the upgrade to the A38 will give existing residents of Hunts Grove an additional access point to the
estate, alleviating pressure on the Waterwells Roundabout. It will also support the additional developments being planned at Hunts Grove,
including a community building, sports pitches and neighbourhood centre.
