Quarff War Memorial Group A group to honour the men & women of Quarff, Shetland Isles who lost their lives serving their country in the First & Second World Wars.

The Quarff War Memorial Group was set up recently to arrange the re-location of the existing memorial from the wall of the Quarff Kirk - which has fallen into a state of disrepair - and re-locate it to the new part of the Kirkyard. The intention of the committee was to make the memorial more accessible to the public & the relatives & families of the men who are listed on the memorial. Seven servicemen from Quarff lost their lives during the second world war & their names are recorded on the existing memorial stone. The committee are planning to add another plaque to record the names of two other servicemen who were lost during the Great War. It is the intention of this page to share stories, photos & memories of not only these nine men but for all other servicemen & women with a Quarff connection who fought for their country during the First & Second World Wars.

Many thanks to the large numbers who turned up at the Hall last night to sort the Christmas Cards. We have enough people who attended to do the deliveries but greatly appreciate others who said they would help with deliveries.

The Quarff War Memorial works are now complete. A new structure has been built in a more accessible location in the new part of the Kirk yard and the original stone, commemorating the 2nd World War fallen, has been restored and re-mounted onto the base. A new stone with the names of those from Quarff lost in the Great War has also been added to complete the memorial.

We still have a small shortfall in funds to raise some further fundraising will therefore be required - please watch this space.
