What a lovely afternoon at the café yesterday! 🎶

A huge thank you to Steve the pianist for leading a wonderful selection of songs that had everyone singing along. There was plenty of laughter, uplifting company, and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the afternoon.

Our guests also enjoyed delicious homemade cakes and refreshments, making it a perfect afternoon of music, friendship and fun.

A big thank you to Sally from Energie4Life for a fun and informative session at The Place To Be Cafe yesterday on staying active and maintaining muscle strength as we get older. 💪

The highlight of the afternoon? Our seated YMCA workout, of course! 🎶😄

Take a look at the photos and see us striking our best Y-M-C-A poses!

The Place To Be Cafe
Friday 29th May 2026
2pm-4pm
St Marks Church Hall, Purley

We have a wonderful speaker joining us this week to present a very relevant information and wellbeing session, looking at how simple exercises can support strength, balance, mobility, and independence for both carers and people living with dementia.

Sally, a local Personal Trainer who supports a number of older adults, will demonstrate a range of gentle NHS-recommended movements and explain how they help with everyday activities such as standing up safely, walking with confidence, improving posture and balance, and helping to reduce the risk of trips and falls.

They’ll be cool drinks and ice cream to enjoy too as well as lots of laughter and chatter.

We welcome those with dementia, their carers and the young at heart.
