A socio-spiritual, volunteer-driven, not-for-profit Hindu organization dedicated to strengthening soc

Founded on the pillars of practical spirituality, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) strives to strengthen society by fostering spiritual values, developing personal skills, rendering humanitarian services, and celebrating cultural traditions. It was revealed by Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781-1830) in 1801 and formally established by Shastriji Maharaj (1865-1951) in 1907. Under the current leadership of

Mahant Swami Maharaj, BAPS engages in over 160 activities through its worldwide network of about 3850 centers, 1100 temples, 1000 sadhus, and 55,000 volunteers. Through these not-for-profit humanitarian activities, BAPS reaches out far and wide to address contemporary moral, social, cultural, and personal issues at the societal, familial, and individual levels. With five lifetime vows of no alcohol and addictions, no non-vegetarian food, no adultery, no stealing, and no impurity of conduct, about a million members of BAPS begin their day with meditation and devotions (nitya-puja), try to lead morally upright, spiritually oriented lives, and donate their time and money for serving others. They actively participate in devotional, sociocultural, educational, medical, environmental, rural, disaster relief and other activities of BAPS. These humanitarian services help the organization serve society by developing individuals and foster Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s motto:
“In the joy of others lies our own;
In the progress of others rests our own;
In the good of others abides our own.”

We are delighted to invite all ladies to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Bhagwan Shri Swaminarayan and Bhagwan Shri Rama at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Preston.

Bhagwan Swaminarayan was born in Chhapaiya, a town near Ayodhya, in Uttar Pradesh. He was born on Chaitra Sud 9, Vikram Samvat 1837 (3 April 1781 CE) at 10.10pm.

Bhagwan Rama, one of the 24 incarnations of Vishnu Bhagwan, was born in Ayodhya on Chaitra Sud 9 at 12 o’clock in the afternoon. Also known as Maryaada Purushottam, Shri Rama lived his life as the ideal son, husband, and king.

On the evening of Saturday 28th March, devotees of BAPS Preston gathered for a cultural programme presented by children and youth titled Naam Ratan.

We ended the evening with a palkhi procession and all devotees present had the honour to swing the murtis of Bal Ghanshyam and Ram Lalla in their parnu.

Great British Spring Clean at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Preston 🌍✨

On Sunday 22 March, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Preston proudly took part in the Great British Spring Clean, a nationwide initiative led by Keep Britain Tidy, bringing together 35 dedicated volunteers, alongside members of the local neighbourhood and wider community, to help keep the area clean and welcoming.

The event was honoured by the presence of the Mayor of Preston, Cllr Sue Whittam, along with Councillor Matthew Brown, Leader of Preston City Council, who both supported this positive community initiative.

Inspired by His HolinessMahant Swami Maharaj, who reminds us of our civic duty to serve our communities, the day reflected the spirit of working together for the greater good.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making a meaningful difference. Together, a cleaner and greener Preston is being built. 🌿♻️
