St Thomas of Villanova died on this day in 1555. Bishop of Valencia and Augustinian friar, he was famous for his generosity.

When others thought he was being exploited he said
“If there are people who refuse to work, that is for the authorities to deal with. My duty is to assist and relieve those who come to my door."

May we be as generous with our hearts and talents as St Thomas of Villanova.
