Today, on my Sunday off, I chose to do something that refreshed my spirit deeply — I worshipped at another church within our circuit.
What a blessing it was to gather with the congregation at Oxlease Methodist Church. From the moment I arrived, there was a sense of warmth, expectancy, and genuine joy in being together.
The message, beautifully delivered by our colleague Rosemary Mutopo, was both powerful and thought-provoking. Drawing from Epistle to the Romans 5:12–19 and Gospel of Matthew 4:1–11, she reflected on Jesus’ wilderness experience and connected it so meaningfully to our own wilderness seasons. We were reminded that just as Christ faced testing, hunger, and temptation, we too journey through challenging landscapes in life — yet God is present, shaping, strengthening, and sustaining us.
It was especially encouraging to see how this growing church is pressing forward in faith. People were engaged, turning pages to explore cross-references, eager to dig deeper into the Word. What a joy to see so many young people in the congregation, listening attentively and participating wholeheartedly. That sight alone filled me with hope.
There is something beautiful about worshipping outside your usual setting — it allows you to see God at work in fresh ways. I am so glad I used my Sunday off to share in fellowship, worship, and the Word with this wonderful church family.
Praise the Lord for what He is doing at Oxlease Methodist Church!
