St Francis Church Welcome to our growing church! St Francis Church is located in Hilsea, in the City of Portsmouth

St Francis Church is located in Hilsea, a district of the City of Portsmouth at the northern end of Portsea Island. St Francis Church and its ministry of welcome is greatly valued by local residents, who truly see it as their own church – this is evident at our special services and at extremely well-supported fairs, lunches and jumble sales. The newest arrivals through our doors are made to feel a

s welcome as those who have been coming for years. Our seemingly unremarkable, brick building contains a good sized hall with toilets and a kitchen, and a bright and airy church space separated by a retractable, glazed partition. The original worship building on the current site of St Francis Church was a temporary, iron structure dedicated to St Joan. St Francis Mission, the older part of the current building, was built in 1936 and was consecrated on 6th June of the same year, as a daughter church to St Mark.

Thy Kingdom Come (TKC) is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus. Every person, household and church are encouraged to pray during the 11 days in their own way.

Thy Kingdom Come is all about praying for people to come to know the amazing, life-transforming love of Jesus. We encourage everyone to choose 5 people they know, and pray for them throughout the 11 days and beyond!

PEOPLE'S EMERGENCY BRIEFING FILM
Forthcoming Portsmouth screenings of the People’s Emergency Briefing film highlight
the climate and nature emergency already affecting the UK. A key event takes place at
the Church of the Resurrection on 15 May 7pm—9pm where Lieutenant General
Richard Nugee will be answering questions about climate change and national security,
on which he is the leading expert featured in the film.
Also screening at Portsmouth Cathedral on 30 May.
