FORGE is a three-year ministry school (for anyone aged 16+) that runs on Monday evenings, following UK school term dates. It provides opportunities for life-shaping encounters with God, preparing disciples for Kingdom living and for the work of ministry. We aim to build a community of disciples who grow together, discovering how to serve God more effectively in all areas of life - in the home, the

workplace, society, and the church environment. Each Monday evening involves talking together, attending lessons, asking questions and having group discussions. FORGE currently runs in-person only at the Empower Centre Portsmouth. Mentoring

All students will be asked to find a personal mentor who will walk with them whilst they attend FORGE. Students must be actively involved in their local church and accountable to their local church leadership. FORGE+

FORGE+ is available to FORGE students aged 18+, who are able to commit daytime hours to serve within the setting of Family Church for one year. Each student who chooses FORGE+ will have the opportunity to discuss their skills, strengths and passions, and will be directed toward relevant teams/projects that they will get involved with during the year (full details at www.family.church/forge). Fees

FORGE costs £300 per student for the year (paid £30/month or £100/term). Additional family members receive a £60 discount per year. Applications

Applications must be submitted by 31 July - so please visit the FORGE web page - www.family.church/forge - where you will find a digital copy of the prospectus as well as the online application. If you would like a hard copy of the prospectus, please just email [email protected] with your request. If you’d like to chat with us about FORGE, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’d love the opportunity to tell you more and discuss how we can make FORGE work for you. We look forward to hearing from you! The FORGE Team

It was so good to be back at FORGE tonight after our half-term break!

We kicked off the evening with a time of worship and prayer, before starting our brand new topic called;
Platform Ministey
Pastor Steven Carey taught both sessions this evening.

In Session 1 titled;
How To Prepare A Message
We discussed the importance of building and preparing a message, we looked at different variables; size of audience, culture, the style of the event and how these could change our communication style.
We also had a group discussion about what style preaching and teaching has stood out to us and how we can improve on our abilities as communicators.

In Sessions 2;
How To Deliver A Message
We looked at some practical keys to help us deliver a message effectively.
We ended with another group discussion on what we had learnt this evening and how we can implement these lessons in our lives.

We had another great time at FORGE Ministry School. Kicking off the evening with a time of prayer and worship.

We then finished our latest topic:
Church Environment.
Both sessions were taught by Pastor Steuart Payne.

During Session 1:
Jesus at the Centre, we learned that Jesus is The Cornerstone of the Church. He is the foundation on which the Church is built.
We also had a time of discussion in our Pod Groups as we looked out how we can ensure Jesus remains at the centre of Family Church, we then found Bible verses to back up our ideas.

In Session 2:
Protecting What God Is Building, we looked at how Jesus has the ultimate responsibility for the Church, but we are called to partner with Him in both building it and protecting the Church, being faithful with the responsibilities we have been given.
We had further discussions in our Pod Groups, looking at key aspects of Christian Faith that need protecting and finding Bible verses to accompany this.

Don't forget! Next week is half term! We will see you all again the following week; June 1st.
In the meantime, do check out our website ~

As we are looking towards an influx of new students for our next school year in September. Let's share and spread the word on what FORGE is all about and what it means to us.

It was so good to be back at FORGE after the half-term break!

We started the evening with a devotional by Davinia, looking at Numbers 13:33. Followed by a time of prayer for our Senior Pastors Steuart & Carla Payne, led by Pastor Nimi-Wei.

We then continued the topic:
Church Environment.

Mark Ferguson taught the first session, titled Excellence.
God has called us be temples that display His glory and excellence!
We looked at what it means to have a spirit of excellence both individually and corporately.
We had discussion points in our Pod Groups, on how excellence is displayed in our lives and how it looks in a Church environment.

Pastor Geoff Wood then taught the second session of the evening, titled
Faith and Expectation.
Are we ready to start thinking big and to stop thinking small?
As Christians we need to believe beyond the natural to a God who is supernatural, for we cannot limit a God who can do exceedingly abundantly far above in our lives! Ephesians 3:20.

Tonight at FORGE we started our evening with an amazing time of worship, led by Pastor Steuart Payne.

We then continued our topic
Church Environment.

Joyce KJ Dadero taught the first session, titled
Leading By Example.
"If a leader wants their church environment to look a certain way, they need to live it out and ensure their team does the same"
We also spent some time within our Pod Groups to discuss how leadership and discipleship are connected to each other.

Mark Carter taught the second session, titled
Valuing People.
All people fall into two categories!
~ Lost Children
~ Saved Children
Everyone is God's child!
The Table Of God is a place where you sit as equals amongst God's Children. We make room at the table for everyone!

*REMINDER* Next Monday is a bank holiday. We will see you all again on 11th May.
God bless!

Tonight at FORGE was the final week of the topic:
Emotionally Healthy Spirituality.
This course was facilitated by Pastor Steuart Payne.

We spent the evening in our Pod Groups, working through Chapter 8 of the EHS workbook titled;
Go the Next Step to Develop a "Rule Of Life"

We started the evening as usual by taking part in a 2 minute silence and Daily Office from the Day By Day devotional book.
We had some great conversations this evening as we discussed how can we be intentional about engaging in spiritual practices, we compared this to the first Christian community in the book of Acts (2:42-47).
We then discussed what our favourite lessons were from the EHS topic and how we can continue to apply these to our lives, despite distractions and busyness.

Remember we are now on a 3 week break! Let's be praying for those who are going on the FORGE Field Trip to Munich!
We will see you all again for our start of term gathering on 19th April.
God bless!

Tonight at FORGE was week 7 of the topic:
Emotionally Healthy Spirituality.
This course was facilitated by Pastor Steven Carey.

We spent the evening in our Pod Groups, working through Chapter 7 of the EHS workbook titled;
Grow into an Emotionally Mature Adult.

We opened this evening with some devotional time as we continue to read through the accompanying EHS Day By Day devotional book. We then looked at the differences between emotional maturity and emotional immaturity. Along with the differences between expectations and assumptions, specifically as we read and studied Luke 10:25-37; The Parable Of The Good Samaritan.

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality.
This course was facilitated by Pastor Steuart Payne

We spent the evening in our Pod Groups, working through Chapter 6 of the EHS workbook titled;
Discover the Rhythms of the Daily Office and Sabbath.

God spent 6 days making the Heavens and the Earth, on the 7th day he rested (Ex20:11).
God calls us to rest too, in fact He commands it, by honouring the Sabbath in our lives. We discussed how all of us can partake in the Sabbath via preparation and planning, especially when our lives are busy.

This week at FORGE was the fifth session of the topic:
Emotionally Healthy Spirituality.
This course was facilitated by Pastor Steven Carey

We spent the evening in our Pod Groups, working through Chapter 5 of the EHS workbook titled;
Enlarge Your Soul Through Grief And Loss.

We looked over our lives thus far and focussed on pivotal moments of grief and loss. We discussed how we dealt with these moments and also how these shaped our expectations of things to come.
We compared these examples with Jesus' own moment of grief in Matthew 26:36-44. As He experienced such grief in the Garden Of Gethsemane.
We were able to summarise that Jesus on Earth was 100% God and 100% Man! As a human He experienced the same emotions we all have. We have such reassurance when we pray that God TRULY knows how we feel.
Rest in this truth today and for the week ahead.

Tonight at FORGE was the fourth week of the topic:
Emotionally Healthy Spirituality, following our half term break.
This course was facilitated by Pastor Steuart Payne.
We spent the evening in our Pod Groups, working through Chapter 4 of the EHS workbook titled;
Journey Through The Wall.
Just as a physical wall stops us from moving ahead, God sometimes stops us in our spiritual journey through a spiritual Wall in order to radically transform our character, this is what we took time to discuss this evening.
We also studied the story of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22:1-14. Along with two amazing testimonies from Manuel Vidal and Taku.
