1st Knocknamuckley Boys' Brigade

Junior BB visited Ganaway Outdoor Pursuits Centre for our annual residential. We had a lovely weekend with great weather. The boys got to try lots of new experiences, we took part in archery, tried the climbing wall, tested our bravery on the zipline, explored caves and had great fun taking part in laser tag. We enjoyed a walk on the beach on Saturday evening and the boys really enjoyed exploring the grounds and playing football in their free time.

Knocknamuckley JS competed in the NI 5 Aside tournament in Meadowbank Arena, Magherafelt yesterday afternoon. This was a tournament for the winners of each battalion across NI, with 12 teams taking part.

Muckley won their first game 3-0, with goals from Joel (x2) and Jacob. In the second game we drew 0-0, with Jacob W picking up an injury after a robust challenge, which unfortunately ended his participation in the tournament. After a 1-1 draw in the next game with Joel scoring again, we played our fourth match with only 4 players with Jacob H getting injured. We went 1-0 ahead through Harry, but struggled with a man down and lost the match. This meant that the boys needed to win the last game 6-0 to go through. Joel scored 5 and Harry scored 1 to achieve this and qualify for the semi final.

Jacob H was able to play through injury in the semi final and scored a great goal to put us ahead, but unfortunately Dungiven managed to score 2 good goals to progress to the final, which they subsequently won.

The boys played excellently, showing good team spirit and attitude throughout, doing themselves and their company proud. Thanks to all the parents for their support and to the boys for playing in the spirit of the game and never giving up.

A fantastic February for Company Section boy Callum! 🏊‍♂️

At the McCullagh International Meet (NAC Dublin), he reached 9/9 finals, achieved 5 PBs, and won 3 silver medals 🥈🥈🥈 — also helping Ulster secure their 5th consecutive Interpro title 👏

He then went on to become 2026 Year 10 Champion in both 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle at the Ulster Schools gala 🏅🏅

This afternoon Knocknamuckley had the honour of leading our Battalion Parade. It was a beautiful afternoon and we were blessed with dry weather.
Thank you to Thomas Street Methodist Church for hosting the service. Thanks to all the boys who participated and also those who came to support us.

Our BB year has come to an end with our two display evenings, where we celebrated the work of BB in Knocknamuckley and the achievements of our boys. We had the opportunity to give out bronze and silver long service awards to leaders from all three sections. Thank you to all the family and friends who joined us on both evenings.
