ECO NEWS!
A massive achievement for our school!
Today we received our 5th Eco‑Schools Green Flag Award! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is an internationally recognised award for outstanding environmental work. The Eco‑Schools Green Flag is the highest level of Eco‑Schools recognition and is earned over two years of participation in activities, initiatives and dedication to environmental sustainability. Our 10 year ‘eco journey’ has shaped our school’s ethos, vision and values.
We are so grateful to our whole school community; children, staff, parents, governors and local businesses for their involvement in this award; and we are so incredibly proud of St John the Baptist PS Bunscoil Eoin Baiste and
St. John the Baptist's College for their Green Flag awards! What an amazing whole community achievement! 😃

A massive thank you to Lord Mayor Stephen Moutray for visiting our school and learning all about our work together with Edenderry Nursery School, Portadown through the ASPIRE programme and to Portadown Wellness Centre for their donation of planting resources. We are so incredibly proud of Mrs O’Neill for achieving her level 3 Elklan Training certificate. This accreditation focuses on Speech and Language Support for 3-5 year olds. Mrs O’Neill spent a few months completing coursework and attending sessions outside of school hours, demonstrating her dedication, commitment and willingness to best support our children. Well done Mrs O’Neill 🤩

Well done to our whole school community on achieving our 5th Green Eco Flag!
This is an amazing achievement for our school! We have spent 10 years working together to improve our school grounds, supporting biodiversity and building children’s awareness of environmental and global issues in a fun, engaging and age appropriate way.

We are just delighted to share this wonderful news!

A massive thank you to Thompson Aero Seating who kindly contributed £350 to our school funds. With this donation we were able to purchase a wonderful array of wooden play materials made by Portadown Men’s Shed to enhance children’s imaginative play outdoors. We were also able to design a mural for our musical area outside and this was created by local artist Mr Dermot McConaghy. We are so grateful to receive the funds and benefit from local businesses and talent!
Thank you so much to all those involved!

Today our Inspection Report has been published on the ETI’s website and we are delighted to be able to share it with the school and wider community!
Once again I wish to thank our absolutely fantastic staff for always going above and beyond; in preparation for the inspection, staff worked late, came in early and worked the weekends just to add the finishing touches to our school - we were joined by friends, family and governors… the effort was tremendous!
The report reflects the continual commitment and dedication by staff in regards to teaching, learning and provision. It is a real privilege to lead such a wonderful team of professionals that put children at the heart and soul of everything we do.
I wish to thank the parents that took the time to complete the questionnaire, send in letters of praise and recognition and speak with inspectors during the visit… we were humbled to hear and read the comments.
And again, thanks to the governors for always supporting our school and dedicating their valuable time to ensuring our standards remain outstanding!
Wishing you all a very happy, holy, and peaceful Easter (and of course a visit from the Easter Bunny!)
