Company Section boys have had a great week to mark the end of this year’s activities. We were blessed with sunshine for our overnight in the Mournes, showing off the stunning beauty of our country. Then we joined with our friends in Tartaraghan to book out Holy Smokes for brilliant food. It coincided with Flynn’s birthday too 🎂. All in all, a super few days. Looking forward to getting plans in place for September.

We welcomed an honorary member to BB this evening! Rupert the Dalmatian came along to show off some of his tricks, make new friends and to teach the boys that just like each Dalmatian is unique, so every boy is unique. Psalm 139 v 14: “I praise You, God, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Many thanks to Sian and Robyn for bringing Rupert all the way from Belfast to meet the boys not only in Juniors but Anchors and Company Section too.

Congratulations to our Junior Section A Team who narrowly missed out on winning the Battalion 5 a side football tournament - defeated on penalties by Knocknamuckley. Super proud of our runners-up who played their socks off and were gracious, if disappointed, in the end. Very proud of the Company Section boys who stayed on after their meeting was over to cheer on the younger boys.

Jesus lost at the Temple was the theme of tonight ⛪️, we talked about how it feels to be lost vs Jesus feeling right at home in the temple, temple crafts and colouring, and games finding lost things! Lots of great listening tonight boys 😊👍.

It was an Ulster Scots theme for both Juniors and Company Sections this week. Boys heard a short history of the Scottish in Ulster, looked up their surnames for potential Scottish ancestry, heard about the language, music and food we are familiar with which is heavily influenced by our Ulster Scots heritage. They got to taste haggis - safe to say it won’t be appearing on Annaghmore dinner plates any time soon, with comments such as ‘smells like wet dog’ and ‘it’s like wheaten bread gone off’! We had mock Highland Games and Juniors (along with the P4’s from Anchors) completed the Ulster Scots workbooks specifically written for BBNI. A highlight of the evening was a visit from the Gospel Drummer - Sam Strain, who demonstrated fantastic drumming skills with lots of tricks and shared how he uses this talent to share his faith in Jesus.

Junior Section Stoolball team unfortunately did not retain their battalion trophy from last year. However, they had plenty of fun trying and were gracious in defeat.
Company boys enjoyed air rifle target shooting. Many thanks to Alan for organising and supervising the boys. Matt also stepped up, showing his developing leadership as he kept the teams circulating.

For a variety of reasons we were missing half of our Junior Section this evening, but those who were present met Munro the guide dog and his owner, Les. Together with Robert the boys heard about life when you are unable to see. They heard about how guide dogs are trained and paired with their owners before seeing a video about Jesus healing a blind man. The evening finished off with a game of stool ball as a practice for next weeks battalion tournament.
We forgot to take photos of Company Section, who played a game of Would I Lie to You (Annaghmore version) before considering the truthful claims of Jesus to be the way, the truth and the life. After some games and badge work the boys worked alongside our caretaker and catering leader to set up the hall for the funeral reception tomorrow of the grandfather of our members, Sam, Jake, Tom and Issac.

On Friday at anchors. We were learning all about how we can remember God's love for us and the sacrifice He made when we put up our Christmas trees.
