Welcome, Rosie! 🎉

It was a real joy to officially welcome Rosie Matthews to Emmanuel at today’s Community Café.

Rosie is joining us for a year-long placement as our new SWYM (South West Youth Ministries) trainee, and will be serving across many areas of church life, including our Sunday children’s groups, King’s Kids at Compton School, and Little Sparks.

We’re excited to have Rosie with us and look forward to seeing all that God will do through her over the coming year. If you see her around, do say hello and help us give her a warm Emmanuel welcome! 😊

Christianity and Politics... should faith shape public life?

On Sunday at Emmanuel, Tim helped us explore the relationship between Christianity and politics, reminding us that following Jesus isn't just about what happens on a Sunday, but how we live, serve and engage in the world around us.

We reflected on practical ways Christians can seek the good of society, from voting thoughtfully and supporting causes we care about, to community action, influencing institutions, and speaking up for justice. We also considered some of today's pressing challenges, including social care, citizenship education, access to water, and the growing influence of AI.

Rather than telling us what to think politically, Tim encouraged us to consider how we can faithfully live as citizens of God's kingdom while seeking the flourishing of our communities.
