When we first purchased this property, we were told there might be a natural freshwater well hidden somewhere in the woods. On an offshore island in the Lower Florida Keys, that sounded almost impossible — freshwater here is as rare as it gets. 🌴💧

For months we searched, following old stories and overgrown trails, never quite knowing if it was real. Then one day, Tanner pressed deeper into the trees… and there it was. A natural well, tucked away in the heart of the forest.

It felt like uncovering a treasure God had hidden just for this place — a reminder that even in the most unlikely places, He provides. 🙌✨

The Gumbo-Limbo tree is nicknamed the “tourist tree” for its coppery, peeling bark that resembles sunburnt skin. This fast-growing, wind-tolerant tree is hurricane-resistant and can be planted to create natural fences by sticking branches into the ground. Its aromatic, sticky sap has been used to make glue and varnish, while its light wood is suitable for crafts and as firewood.

Highlights from our first group event.

We were so blessed with a group of workers from FBI church that volunteered to be our first team at LKD. This group of hard workers did so much from clearing trails, building platforms, and setting up our first worship service on the island. Huge thanks to everyone that joined us!
