At Hub we were able to share in the birthday of the one and only Mihail Budeanu. He turned 5 years old and is very special to us. Now that he is all grown up he no longer wants to be called Misha, he want his real name! So Mihail Budeanu it is 🙂
The Hub continues to be everything it needs to be in providing the space for a community to be safe and to feel a sense of home. It is impossible to miss the rich blessing that the Hub continues to be for all who come!
As always I will let the pictures do the talking :)

The lengths we are willingly to go to to see smiles on the faces of the children. Just a time to focus on bringing some joy into the lives of those who have been deprived of so much.
Some good traditional fun and games 🙂
These photos will certainly bring a little of that joy to you…

The term “Going from Strength to Strength” is real when we look at the care our Ukrainian Hub is providing. In the past few weeks we have continued to see new families and individuals find their way to the hub. The reactions are always the same - they are surprised and happy to find such a full community and source of care.
There are countless instances where the care from the group eases struggle and provides comfort. We continually hear from the parents how that Tuesdays can’t come round quick enough for their children! The laughter and joy at the hub is stunning.
Over the next few weeks we have been able to offer some needed additional support with the help of Stella’s Voice providing bicycles with helmet, lights and padlock to any adult or child in need of one. Scotland Supporting Ukraine have reached out to offer free winter coats to anyone who needs one. We have arranged for a local pottery place who specialises in children to come to the hub and have a session where everyone will decorate a Christmas ornament.
The Hub is certainly a place of life and an huge channel for good things to be on display.
We are continually reminded that our Father is good and His faithfulness can be relied upon :)

I remember this image being shared in a few places over the past couple of weeks. There is depth to this sentiment. Especially in light of world events and the relentless effect and influence of men and women who are speaking from a place that does not have the transformative work of Gods Spirit or His truth upon their souls. This image reminds all who trust in Gods plan and His sovereignty to stay watertight - doing everything to stand firm in the strength that comes from God.
This text also rings true…
“Do not be conformed (squeezed into its mould) to the pattern of this world, but be transformed…”

Need to give a huge thanks to the Peterhead Congregational Church! They have been collecting clothes and shoes and donated them to our Ukrainian Hub 🙂. It is such a blessing when this kind of thing happens. The timing is perfect as the weather begins to turn colder we were needing to replenish our clothing stores. This gives us opportunity to thank God as this has His fingerprints all over it!
Thanks to Anne, who was using her conservatory to store everything. Thanks also to Alec who just happened to be at the right place at the right time and helped me out :)

We often post about the children’s birthdays, however, today begins with the lovely Ludmyla’s celebration. I’m sure she said it was her 30th birthday 🙂
Marina (daughter) had made a beautiful cake to share with everyone - it was delicious!!
We are so blessed to have Ludmyla’s presence at the hub. She really is the most lovely of ladies. Always willing to help and always has a smile to brighten the atmosphere.

The last two hub gatherings couldn’t have been more different! The first saw us celebrating two birthdays. Zhenya who turned 4 and Nasar who turned 11. There was so much energy and activity, everyone just soaking up the joy! The second found the complete opposite. A very peaceful and quiet conversational time. Both gatherings were were lovely, but both for very different purposes.

Always a blessing when everyone comes together. In the past couple of weeks we have seen 4 new families visit the hub and instantly benefited from the warmth and community that has come to define the hub.

As always I will just let the photos do the talking :)

It’s good and wholesome from time to time to be reminded of how the hub continues to meet important needs for our Ukrainian friends. This week there were a few special moments at the Hub.

The first was having to say farewell to Svitlana, Luka and Yeva 😞
They are heading back home to be reunited with family. Svitlana was the First Ukrainian to find refuge in Scotland and has been a strong part of the hub since arriving in Peterhead about 15 months ago! We simply wanted the farewell message to be an old Scots saying “Haste ye back.” Meaning, come back soon, you are always welcome here. (Special mention must be made for the cake made by Marina - See photos)

The second moment was when Tamara and Volodymyr presented us with a beautiful handmade tapestry of the Ukrainian coat of arms that symbolises “Freedom. “ The gift now hangs in pride of place above our united countries flags at the hub.

Thirdly, it has long been a tradition that handprints are placed all around our halls walls. We began this practice in 2010 and many lives that have impacted for good are there as a lasting memory. On Tuesday we added a few more hands. There were many of the Ukrainian children and some mums shared in the tradition. The lovely thing was the little caption that they wrote and will serve as a lovely reminder to us that we have served well.

Again, there is much to be grateful for and much to give thanks for.
