Itâs good and wholesome from time to time to be reminded of how the hub continues to meet important needs for our Ukrainian friends. This week there were a few special moments at the Hub.
The first was having to say farewell to Svitlana, Luka and Yeva đ
They are heading back home to be reunited with family. Svitlana was the First Ukrainian to find refuge in Scotland and has been a strong part of the hub since arriving in Peterhead about 15 months ago! We simply wanted the farewell message to be an old Scots saying âHaste ye back.â Meaning, come back soon, you are always welcome here. (Special mention must be made for the cake made by Marina - See photos)
The second moment was when Tamara and Volodymyr presented us with a beautiful handmade tapestry of the Ukrainian coat of arms that symbolises âFreedom. â The gift now hangs in pride of place above our united countries flags at the hub.
Thirdly, it has long been a tradition that handprints are placed all around our halls walls. We began this practice in 2010 and many lives that have impacted for good are there as a lasting memory. On Tuesday we added a few more hands. There were many of the Ukrainian children and some mums shared in the tradition. The lovely thing was the little caption that they wrote and will serve as a lovely reminder to us that we have served well.
Again, there is much to be grateful for and much to give thanks for.
