Christmas Services and Events at Thorney Abbey

Sunday December 21st

Carols by Candlelight 6.30 pm
In the soft glow of candlelight listen to a blend of readings, pieces sung by the choir and congregational carols.

Wednesday December 24th

Crib Service 4.00 pm
Dress up as a character from the Nativity and act out the story. We do have costumes available at the door.

Midnight Communion 11:15pm
Welcome in Christmas Day.

Thursday December 25th
Christmas Day Family Communion 11.00 am. Celebrate the birth of Christ

This is starting tonight with ‘The big outside tree switch-on’ event @6:30pm. Mulled wine, mince pies, hot chocolate and group of local musicians playing carols around the tree 🎄

Father Christmas is all set up in his grotto and is ready to meet people after the big tree is switched on this evening ...

Father Christmas is all set up in his grotto and is ready to meet people after the big tree is switched on this evening (tree switching on event at 6:30pm, Father Christmas available from 7pm) He is also there on Saturday from 10-2pm. His sleigh is fully accessible for wheelchairs, there will be gifts for children. It is FREE. It is not the vicar wearing a beard.

Christmas Services and Events at Thorney Abbey

Sunday November 30th
Nativity at Moor Farm 4.00pm
The Christmas Story told amongst real animals in a barn. Dressing up warmly and festively is encouraged

Christmas Tree Festival
Friday December 12th
The Big Christmas Tree Switching on 6:30pm
Wrap up warm and join the brass band to sing carols around the tree.
Visit Father Christmas in the Abbey 7pm
He will be there with his sleigh for people to visit.

Saturday December 13th
Christmas Tree Festival 10.00 am -4.00 pm
Local groups have decorated Christmas trees on the theme of ‘Pantomime’. Refreshments, stalls and a raffle
Sponsor a Carol 2pm
Make a donation and the choir will sing a song of your choice.
Visit Father Christmas in the Abbey 10:00-2:00pm
Children’s Community Choir Concert 6pm
Enjoy twinkling lights and the sound of children singing whilst you sit amongst the Christmas trees

Sunday December 14th
Toy Service Family Communion 10.00 am
Bring a present for a person less fortunate. All gifts will be taken to a local charity hub.

Next Sunday - 16th November - our choir are singing Evensong at Thorney Abbey. The service starts at 15:30, and all are very much welcome to attend.

We love the opportunity to take our music and worship to other places within the The Diocese of Peterborough, and we are very grateful to be so kindly welcomed by Reverend Hayley Hobbs.
