All pets, Great and Small, are welcome but please ensure that they are tethered or contained in some way. Free range cats in the rafters are not encouraged! Coffee and biscuits afterwards for humans, hopefully doggy treats for dogs but fresh birds will not be on the cat menu. Plenty of grass and other tasty vegetables in the graveyard for vegetarians.

Thank you to everyone who made last night such a success. Holy Trinity resounded to the sound of beautiful singing from the Wycombe Chamber Choir and the sound of the organ filled the church. It was lovely to see so many of you there too. Thank you for coming and making the evening so successful.

A special mention to the organiser, Nico Wilson, and to the clergy team led by Revd Samuel. Thanks too to the congregation members who brought food and drink and helped with the post service reception.

A shout out to Oakwood Estates who made it look as if the road from Penn to Beaconsfield had a large number of houses for sale! Finally and by no means least a huge thank you to The Choral Evensong Trust who gave us a grant to run the event.

The question on everyone's lips as we left was "when's the next one?"

Don't forget it's this Sunday! 6:30pm. Free entry, tickets are not required.

Since both Revd Samuel and the member of the congregation who posts here on FB both went to Durham to study, I obviously have to post this.

Today is the feast day of The Venerable Bede.

Bede was a great monk and scholar who wrote and translated around 40 books, hymns and poems on subjects including religion, science, history, astronomy, mathematics and language.

On 26th May 735AD Bede offered his final praises to the Lord and died. Today, 1,291 years later, we celebrate the life and work of Bede and his witness to Jesus Christ.

Tonight at 5.30pm, we inaugurate the first honorary Bede Librarian at Durham Cathedral, historian Tom Holland.
