🧗‍♂️ Adventure Level: 100%! 🏹

What a fantastic weekend the 48th Edinburgh and 61st Edinburgh (Musselburgh) Boys' Brigade had at PGL Dalguise! 🌳

From scaling the climbing walls to hitting bullseyes in Archery, and from testing our wits with problem-solving to learning essential Survival Skills, our boys gave it their all. The teamwork and spirit on display were second to none!

A massive Special Thanks to Toni and the entire team at PGL Dalguise for hosting us and putting on such a brilliant adventure weekend. We’ve made memories that will last a lifetime!

Anchors & Juniors are back tonight! 🙌

We’re always happy to welcome new members, so if you’ve been thinking about coming along, this is a perfect time to start. Bring a friend and come see what Boys’ Brigade is all about! 😊

Company Section is not on tonight due to Camp, but will be back next week.

☕ This Sunday is also our first Sunday of BB support at Church Coffees after the Service along with Young Kirk @ Penicuik North Kirk. We’d love to see you along for the service @ 11am, Young Kirk, and then stay for a coffee afterwards and a catch up.

Over the last two weeks, the Company Section boys have been competing in our annual Company competitions, and they’ve done brilliantly.

We’re delighted to say we’ve reached the finals in all competitions, which will be taking place throughout March.

The boys have been competing in:

FIFA 🎮
Table Tennis 🏓
Pool 🎱
Chess ♟️
Badminton 🏸

Every boy competed really well, and the games have been very close right across the board.

Batmobiles, Dinosaurs, and Mousetraps - From "The Penicuik Pram Race" to the Physics of Friction. 🏁

Whilst our Facebook posts have been a bit quiet the last couple of weeks, the boys have definitely not been! They’ve been hard at work getting crafty, stretching their creativity, and diving into a bit of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths).

First up: we set the Company Section a challenge to design their own “Penicuik Pram Race” vehicle. The aim was simple: build a rolling chassis… and then make it as creative as possible.
The Company Section produced a cracking Batmobile entry, while the Seniors went all-in with a Jurassic Park Jeep!

That led perfectly into our STEM week, where we tackled the classic mousetrap car build. The boys built a cardboard car that was self-propelled using a mousetrap and string — and learned first-hand how small design choices make a big difference. We talked about things like:

-how stored energy transfers into movement

-friction and traction (why some cars flew… and others spun!)

-weight, alignment, and stability

-testing, tweaking, and improving designs as a team

A big shout-out as well to our two Senior boys, who led the night. They did a brilliant job planning, preparing, and running the activity - a great glimpse of what leadership looks like in the Boys’ Brigade.

🚀 NEW ADVENTURES AWAIT AT THE 48TH EDINBURGH BB! 🚀

We’re officially midway through our session, but the fun is just getting started! Whether your lad is looking to make new friends, learn new skills, or simply burn off some Friday night energy, the 48th Edinburgh Boys’ Brigade has a place for him.

With big trips and summer camps on the horizon, now is the absolute best time to join, get settled in, and be part of the highlights of the year! 🏕️🚌

📍 Where & When?
We meet every Friday night at Penicuik North Kirk, with three sections tailored to different age groups:

⚓ Anchor Boys (P1–P3): 6:30pm – 7:30pm
🎨 Junior Section (P4–P6): 6:30pm – 8:00pm
🧗 Company Section (P7–S6): 7:30pm – 10:00pm

🌟 Mid-Term, New Members Welcome! 🌟
It’s a great time to get involved - with games, challenges, badges, teamwork, faith, and plenty of laughs. Whether you’re brand new or returning, you’ll find friendship and adventure waiting.

It was brilliant to see everyone return after the break and kick off the new term with a great night across all sections.

Anchors & Juniors had a relaxed welcome back with plenty of fun games, laughs, and catching up with friends. 🙌
Company Section got hands-on with model clay, creating their own “faith inspired” models - some were thoughtful, some were creative… and at least one had us asking “how does that connect?” 😄 - before finishing the night with a lively game of Blind Football!

All sections are back tomorrow, Friday 9th January 🎉We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back after the Christmas...

Wishing all our boys, families and friends a very Merry Christmas.

Friday night marked our final BB night of 2025, and it was festive games all round from start to finish! Unfortunately Santa couldn’t make it (far too busy in the run-up to the Big Day! 🎅) but our Minister Graham was with us to hand out presents to all sections - and he even jumped in and joined the fun too!

🌟 Anchors & Juniors enjoyed a brilliant mix of games including Musical Statues, Dodgeball, Christmas Port & Starboard, and Pass the Reindeer 🦌 before adding even more sparkle to our BB Christmas Tree with extra decorations… and finishing off with festive cookies 🍪

🎭 And a special mention from yesterday - our Anchors & Juniors headed along with the Battalion to the Christmas Panto and loved Beauty and the Beast! 🌹✨ A brilliant day out to round off the Christmas fun.

💙 A huge thank you for all your support this year - especially our Parent Helpers and Sophie, who has been volunteering with us for her Duke of Edinburgh Award. We genuinely couldn’t operate without you all!

🎄 Another festive Friday night across all sections at BB!

Our Anchor and Junior sections enjoyed some nativity–themed games and Christmas colouring in – plenty of smiles and festive fun all round ⭐

Our Company section donned their aprons and mixed and baked some festive mince pies and Christmas cookies 🥧🍪 before finishing the night with a competitive game of “round the table” table tennis 🏓
