St David’s Church, Pencoed St David’s Church, Pencoed and St Ilid & St Curig’s Church, Llanilid. Part of the Pedair Afon Ministry Area in the Diocese of Llandaff and The Church in Wales

We are part of the Anglican denomination of Christianity. That in a sense means we have a certain style and structure about the way that we express our beliefs. i.e. we have churches that look like churches and clergy who wear dog collars etc. We are ordinary human beings just like everybody else in this world. We try and live that life with God in mind and following the teachings of Jesus Christ. Why? Because there is more to life than baptisms, weddings, funerals and an hour on a Sunday.

🐾❤️ After the morning Eucharist at St David’s today, Fr Philip popped into the church hall and was absolutely thrilled to meet Angel, the wonderful therapy dog, who had come along to ‘The Generations Game’, a community event run by our local primary school and Cath Hughes Lcc Pencoed

The event brings together people of all generations to enjoy some conversation, crafts, and games …today’s craft was mask-making and a lovely game of bingo!

It certainly looked as though Angel was having a wonderful time, and she brought lots of smiles to people’s faces. We hope she’s now enjoying a well-earned rest after all her hard work this morning! 🐶🥇

You may have noticed that the grass in our churchyard hasn’t been cut for some time. We are in the process of finding a new contractor who is able to continue to maintain the churchyard regularly (at a reasonable rate) through the growing season, so please bear with us.

Churchyard maintenance is the responsibility of the local church community. We do not receive funding from the local or nation governments so we are seeking help to fund the ongoing maintenance. If you would like to contribute to the costs associated with maintaining the churchyard, one-off donations can be received here:

https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/QRC58UAH

Alternatively, please get in touch if you would like to make regular (monthly) donations and we can discuss the process of setting this up.

Thank you for your understanding and please bear with us.

It's CORPUS CHRISTI!

Latin for ‘Body of Christ’ Corpus Christi may also be referred to as
‘Thanksgiving for Holy Communion.’

It commemorates the institution of the Eucharist by Jesus
at the Last Supper.

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it,
and gave it to them, saying,
“This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying,
“This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
which is poured out for you.”
Luke 22:19-20

Some churches in a more catholic tradition process through the streets on Corpus Christi. The Blessed Sacrament is held aloft by a priest, as a public statement that Christ's sacrifice was for the whole world.

Jesus is always present among us.
The Thanksgiving for Holy Communion celebrates our Christian unity in, and as, the Body of Christ.

Jesus, Bread of Life,
feed our faith,
help us to share our resources fairly,
help us to find joy in our differences,
and help us to love one another
as you have loved us.
Amen.
