The icon on display during Holy Mass this morning, by Russian Andrei Rublev in 1411, is often called the β€œHospitality of Abraham” or β€œThe Trinity.”

It represents the three mysterious visitors (angels) who appeared to Abraham at Mamre in Genesis 18:1-15 and was created for the abbot of the Trinity Monastery in Russia.

The Catholic Church recognises that the visitors to Abraham foreshadowed the New Testament revelation of the Holy Trinity.

β›ͺ️ Starting this Wednesday in our Deanery β›ͺ️

……… πŸ’Novena of Holy Hours and Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart πŸ’

What’s a Novena?
πŸ™ A nine day period of private or public prayer to obtain special graces, to implore special favours, or make special petitions.

What is a Holy Hour?
πŸ‡»πŸ‡¦A Catholic devotional tradition of spending one continuous hour in prayer and meditation often in Eucharistic Adoration.

What is an Act of Consecration?
✝️ When we consecrate a thing, we give it to God. In consecrating the deanery to the Sacred Heart we offer it to Him, asking Him to use us, our families, homes and our parishes for His glory and for the good of souls.

There will be a Holy Hour on each of nine days at a different church in the deanery, culminating in the consecration of the deanery by Bishop Neylon during Mass at Our Lady and All Saints church -

🌟🌟 7.00pm, Friday 12th June 🌟🌟

- on the feast of the Sacred Heart.

At the end of Mass you will receive a small image of the Sacred Heart, blessed by the bishop, for you to put up in your home.

Do come along and pray as many Holy Hours as you can!

Today the Church celebrates the beautiful Feast of Jesus Christ, the Eternal High Priest β€” a reminder that Christ continually intercedes for us with love, mercy and compassion.

Jesus is not distant from our joys, struggles, worries or hopes. He walks with His people, offering Himself completely for the life of the world, and inviting us ever closer to His Sacred Heart.

On this special feast, let us pray in thanksgiving for all priests who faithfully serve God’s people, especially those who have ministered to our parish community through the years. May they be strengthened, encouraged and filled with joy in their vocation.

We also pray for new vocations to the priesthood and religious life, that more hearts may courageously answer the Lord’s call.

β€œSince then we have a great high priest… let us hold fast to our confession.” (Hebrews 4:14)

Lord Jesus, Eternal High Priest, bless our parish, our priests and our families with Your peace and love. πŸ™
