Warning on church break-ins

Sadly, it has come to our attention that at least two of our Churches have been broken into over the weekend.

While there has been damage to property, fortunately nothing was stolen. In both instances images have been caught on CCTV and DNA samples have been found, so hopefully it will not be too long until arrests are made.

Sadly, these were not the only church buildings to be targeted over the weekend, with buildings in Govan and Renfrew also being affected.

Please be vigilant around your own buildings. If you see any suspicious activity, please do not approach any potential perpetrators, the safe thing to do is to contact the Police.

You may also consider displaying notices saying that no cash is left on your premises.

God bless,

Rev. Christine Murdoch
Presbytery Clerk

Well done all, absolutely fantastic to see. ⚓️

Fifty-two people attended the Presbytery Conference on 2 June, held at Inchinnan Parish Church.

The guest speaker, Rev Paul Beautyman, led an engaging session exploring the why, how and what of youth work. He introduced those present to his “e-circle” model, which encouraged thoughtful discussion among those attending.

Slides from the evening will be made available on the Mission page of the Presbytery website.

Following questions raised on the night, and the areas of the “e-circle” which people expressed a particular interest in exploring further, Paul will now shape a follow-up Zoom meeting and host a further in-person gathering. Dates for both will be posted on the Presbytery website and page.

A total of 28 congregations were represented at the conference, including three from outwith the Church of Scotland.

Youth Conference: Reimagining Youth Ministry

Date: 2nd June 2026 | Time: 7pm
Location: Inchinnan Parish Church (PA4 9PH)

Youth work in today’s world is complex, but it remains one of the most vital ways to breathe new life into our congregations. This isn't just another meeting; it’s an opportunity to rethink how we engage with the next generation.

We are delighted to welcome Paul Beautyman (Youth Work Journeys) to lead this session. Paul brings a wealth of experience as a minister, youth worker, and advisor, having pioneered mission and outreach across Scotland. He now specialises in equipping and mentoring those on the front lines of youth ministry.

Why Attend?

Fresh Perspectives: Explore innovative models that move beyond traditional methods.

Expert Guidance: Learn from Paul’s extensive experience in growing sustainable youth programmes.

Long-term Support: This initial session kicks off a three-part series. Attendees will help shape two follow-up workshops designed to provide practical resources and clear next steps.

Who is it for?

This conference is open to everyone with an interest in youth work, not just Presbytery members. We particularly encourage church leaders, volunteers, and ecumenical partners to attend.

Action: Please share this invitation widely within your congregations and local networks. Let’s work together to bring God’s life to the young people in our communities.

Parking is available but McGills buses 757 (Clydebank to Paisley) and 23 (Glasgow to Erskine) both stop outside the church on Old Greenock Road.

Moderator’s Ramblings

When I met with a group of Clyde Presbytery ministers last month I spoke about how much my husband Jim and I enjoy walking and that just the day before we had walked about 11.5 miles from our home. This was a circular walk taking in both the Renfrew Bridge and the Erskine Bridge, mainly along the canal on the north bank and along the river on the south bank. As we walked I began to wonder how many parishes we travelled through; I counted seven - Inchinnan, Renfrew North, Clydebank Waterfront l/w Kilbowie St Andrews, Dalmuir Barclay, Old Kilpatrick, Bishopton and Erskine. This walk gave me the opportunity to give thanks for the work done in each of these parishes by their ministers and congregations.

I also said that it was my hope that by the end of my year as moderator I would enjoy a walk in all of the parishes within Clyde presbytery.

One more step along the world I go…

More ramblings to follow!

Love and Blessings,
Mhairi
