A very busy Doors Open Day on Saturday at which we were able to explain our plans for the upcoming repairs works to the Abbey. Contractors Pendrich provided a hands on stone carving activity, and perhaps gained a new apprentice? The tower trips, coffee and gift shop all saw brisk business, all the mice were hunted and found, and the atmosphere in the Abbey was enhanced by some gentle organ music. A great day where we were delighted to see so many visitors. Our thanks to The Scouts and all our volunteers who went above and beyond.

Doors Open Day this weekend and on Saturday 5th September we look forward to welcoming visitors to the Abbey. Lots to see and our stewards will be on hand to answer any questions. You can hear the wonderful Abbey organ playing a selection of light classical and popular tunes. With the high level repairs works about to start at the Abbey, we have a stonemason who will be explaining the work that will be getting carried out, and visitors will have a chance to try a bit of stone carving for themselves ( 12pm - 2pm ). Weather permitting the Abbey tower will be open and the coffee shop will be serving hearty soup and the usual delicious cakes and scones. And as always those mischievous Abbey mice have been scampering around the church, can you find where they are hiding this time???

We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Rev Elspeth Mackay, who was minister at the Abbey 2021 - 2022. Our thoughts are with her family at this time.

The final day of University of the West of Scotland summer graduations. Well done to all those who graduated this week, and wishing you every success in the future. We look forward to welcoming UWS back to the Abbey in November, when we are sure it might not be a warm is it was today!! 😀

The sun finally shone for the graduates of University of the West of Scotland at the Abbey today. Our director of music George McPhee is providing the celebratory sound track to this special occasion, with the Cavaille-Coll organ in full voice. Congratulations to all who are graduating this week.
