Today’s the Solemnity of St. Goerge; Patron of England.
St George is best known as a dragon slayer, patron saint, and Christian martyr. Legend describes St George as a valiant knight who battled a mighty dragon, saving a princess and a village, before becoming a martyr for his faith. Behind this epic tale lies a complex history of religious devotion and royal influence.

Let us Pray.

God of hosts,
who so kindled the fire of charity
in the heart of Saint George your martyr,
that he bore witness to the risen Lord
both by his life and by his death;
grant us through his intercession, we pray,
the same faith and power of love,
that we who rejoice in his triumph
may be led to share with him
in the fullness of the resurrection.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
