As an Eco Church, we are locking away the lawnmowers this month to let our churchyard grow free and help local wildlife.

Take a stroll through the churchyard and you’ll spot some wonderful, hand-painted wooden signs 🎨🐝. They aren't just lovely to look at—they share great eco-facts about why this matters.

Why Go Wild?
* Feed the Pollinators: Early blooms like dandelions provide vital food for bees and butterflies.
* Boost Biodiversity: Longer grass creates a safe haven for birds, beetles, and small mammals.

🌿 Join in at home!
Even leaving a small patch of your lawn un-mowed this May can make a massive difference for God's creation.

April at St. Mary’s

What a beautiful month it has been for our parish! From the joy of the empty tomb to the new arrivals in our fields, April has been truly blessed.

Here are some of our highlights:
✝️ Easter Day Baptism: On April 5th, we celebrated a powerful baptism by full immersion. Emerging from the water on Resurrection Sunday served as a moving testament to new life in Christ.

🐑 New Arrivals: The theme of new beginnings continued with the birth of two healthy lambs in the churchyard—a lovely reminder of God’s creation at work.

❓️Charity Quiz: Thank you to everyone who flexed their brainpower at our Quiz Night! We raised fantastic funds for the restoration of the church tower while enjoying some great community fun.

This April 2026, we journeyed through the heart of the Christian calendar together. Thank you for being part of our vibrant community. May the light of the Easter season continue to shine in your homes!

Today we mark the feast of St George, our patron saint, seen here alongside St Martin in the beautiful stained-glass windows at St Mary’s.

While many know the legend of the dragon, we remember the historical George as a man of profound courage and faith. For us, this day is an invitation to reflect on the values of service and bravery, and to celebrate the diverse, vibrant community we are proud to be part of here in Oxted.

However you are marking the day—whether through celebration or quiet reflection—we wish you a peaceful St George’s Day.
