Renew Oxford

Renew Oxford How can churches and followers of Jesus serve and care for our city, sharing our hope for a better future? Previous events incl. Engage Oxford ('18-19)

Renew Oxford is an initiative of Oxford Community Church, in partnership with Love Oxford Churches. The COVID-19 pandemic has uncovered and deepened needs in society; loneliness, isolation, inequality, and food poverty, to name but a few. As churches and followers of Jesus, we have a role to play in serving and caring for our city, and in sharing our hope for a better future. It’s time to ask, how

can we be good news for Oxford? Renew Oxford is an initiative started by Oxford Community Church, in partnership with Love Oxford Churches. Our first event will take place in June 2022. The day will include talks, seminars, prayer and networking opportunities. We will hear from a wide range of contributors representing many sectors of city life, helping us to better understand the needs of our city, celebrate the work that is already being done, and consider what role we can play in continuing to work for the renewal of Oxford. Date: Saturday June 18th 2022, 09.30-15.00
Venue: The King’s Centre, Osney Mead, OX2 0ES
Cost: £20 (early bird rate) / £10 concessions

As we come towards the end of 2025 there is much to give thanks for, including the completion of the mapping project, a successful Renew Oxford event, and the forming of new working groups. Looking ahead we're forming a new steering group to explore new opportunities and co-ordinate our activities. Thank you for being part of the journey, and we look forward to seeing what lies ahead.

Last Saturday, representatives from more than 30 churches gathered to celebrate how Oxford’s congregations serve the city, and to help shape what comes next.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and contributed to meaningful conversations about how we can better meet the needs of our city.

We were also honoured to hear from guests who brought valuable insights from their roles in public service:

Leonard Sackey, Oxford City Council
Neil Preddy, Oxfordshire Homeless Movement
Mike Farley, Transform Lincoln
Jacqui Gitau, African Families in the UK
Sasha East, The GateHouse Oxford

We left the day feeling inspired, united, and hopeful for the action that will follow.

"When churches collaborate, we've seen lives changed and systems impacted by our shared Christian witness," says Mike Farley.

Mike has been part of Transform Lincoln since its launch in 2017. A former teacher and Senior Pastor, he now serves as Lead Community Connector for Bridge Church, in alliance and partnership with NHS Lincolnshire.

He will join us at 'Together For Oxford', where Oxford churches will gather to discuss how we can serve our city in even greater ways.

'Together For Oxford' will take place on 18 October, at 9 am, at The King's Centre.
