Exodus 19:1-25: Learning to hear the voice of God - pastor Gitau
- 📣 There are times when the journey may seem long , but that is whenGod is calling us to remember all the things he has done in the past and the victories he has taken us through.
- 📢 Just as with the children of Israel when God reminded therm that it is Him who carried them on “eagles wings” - we too need to remember our salvation is entirely God’s handiwork
- It is God who carries the weight the redemption work
- 📣 Vs 5: after rescuing the children of Israel, God introduces them to a transition to another level of covenantal relationship . At this level, we not only rely on what God can do , but on learning to listen to God and following His instructions to lead us to the destination
- 📣 There is a grace of receiving from God’s hand , but there is also a requirement to learn to obey His Word and reach the promised land that way . Vs 6 - we are people of great value, but our value comes from our relationship with God .
- 📣 1 Peter : we are God’s chosen people , a royal priesthood , a holy nation, but there js a a reason to this special calling …..
- 📣 We are to be priests , our role is to show the nations how to follow God. Not just to flaunt our “special calling”: and lord it over the others
- If we sin, we lose that special touch we have with God, that which allows us to reach others with His grace
- 📣 The church is the new Israel . It is no longer a geographical and political entity . The church’s role is to obey God and to fulfil this priestly mandate, that of calling others into God’s marvellous light, calling others to become part of God’s kingdom.
- 📣 Vs 7: initially God had told Moses to throw his stick on the ground which turned to a snake, - , God started off by using marvellous miracles to show them the power of God. At this next level , God only sent Moses with his WORDS, not miracle works
- 👂God wants us to HEAR and DO his instructions
- 👂👂🏽 At this new transition level, God wants to create an opportunity for us to work in covenant with Him. In exodus 19 God is transitioning the children of Israel from just recipients of His miracles but Co-workers with Him to spread the kingdom to all peoples .
- 🗻 As Moses was on the mountain, we see a similar picture when Christ gave the sermon on the mount . He was calling people to see how God works and to learn to hear the voice of God.
- 🗻🏔️👂🏽May we learn to hear and obey the voice of God, and not just wait for him to perform miracles .

Exodus 18 : How to do the work of God, preaching by Tony Gerald
- 👣 We are learning from the story of Exodus that the work of God requires an army, teamwork, partnership and collaboration.
- 👣 In chapter 18, we learn how to practically share out the tasks, and how we can be a people that actively participate in kingdom work.
- 👣 We Learn that no human being can carry the load alone , even if they have the calling of God on their lives. Moses also had to learn this truth from an older maturer leader .
- 👣 Moses had obviously developed a good and respectful relationship with jethro
- 👣 At Moses’ lowest , he was received and nurtured by Jethro .
- 👣 Jethro was not even of the same faith as Moses , but through respect and interaction they related well.
- 👣 However because of the testimony of all the miracles God had done through Moses, Jethro acknowledged the power of God.
- 👣 Exodus 18:10-13) “Jethro was delighted to hear about all the good things the Lord had done for Israel in rescuing them from the hand of the Egyptians. He said, “Praise be to the Lord, who rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians and of Pharaoh, and who rescued the people from the hand of the Egyptians. Now I know that the Lord is greater than all other gods, for he did this to those who had treated Israel arrogantly.” Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and other sacrifices to God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a meal with Moses’ father-in-law in the presence of God.”
- 👣 Moses respected Jethro as he had cared and supported him, when he was not doing well. Despite now being an accomplished leader who has been used by God to do miracles , Moses remembered to honour Jethro
- 👣 May we always respect all people , whatever their earthly stations or our earthly privileges .
- 👣 Moses learnt from Jethro , how to administer the calling on his life .
- 👣 Whatever calling we have on our lives , we can’t do everything . Jethro advised Moses on how to delegate , giving him practical steps on how to delegate , Including personal specifications of the people he should recruit for the tasks .
- 👣 As we walk and work in the kingdom of God , there are other people who can partner with us to achieve the mission. People who are trustworthy , people who are fair , people who don’t take bribes . We need teamwork So that we can achieve the ministry that God has put in our hands
- ✊🏽 May we be people of integrity
- ✊🏽 May we be people who can interact respectfully with others , even if they are different from us.
- ✊🏽May we be people who can listen and receive advice in fulfilling the call of God on our lives .

Exodus 17:8-16
God is constantly on our side , Pastor Zack Mathenge
- [ ] If we have learnt anything from our study of the book of Exodus, it is that “God is with us through all the ups and downs of life , and that He is behind all situations to ensure that as people we have the liberty to worship and thrive in our lives .
- [ ] Just after getting fresh water and enjoying being refreshed in the desert , suddenly the Israelites were ambushed and attacked by the armalekites. They were outnumbered in numbers and skill. As a new nation, they did not yet have an army
- [ ] Again they cried to God to rescue them. from this story , We need to remember that our battles are won in two places , on the physical arena and in the spiritual realm
- [ ] As believers , our battles are both in the flesh and in the spirit
- [ ] We need to learn to ignite our faith whenever we encounter difficult moments
- [ ] We should not just use our physical and intellectual acumen, we also need to pray about situations
- [ ] Reading exodus 17:8-16, the battle with the Amalekites was in the Valley but the prophetic and spiritual battle was taking place on the hill, where Moses was lifting them up before God
- [ ] We need each other in the household of faith to help us achieve and overcome battles and difficult situations .
- [ ] The battle needed Joshua to act as the general in the battlefield , and Moses to call on God and provide spiritual oversight over the nation.
- [ ] After holding his hands up for hours, Moses got tired and needed Aaron and Hur to hold up his hands .
- [ ] May God help us not to isolate ourselves when we are going through difficult times , let us call on other believers to stand and pray with us . We all need people to hold us up every once in a while
- [ ] We only win and overcome when we stay in fellowship and lift up the name of God.
Psalm 20:5 “May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.”

- [ ] When we see God fighting for us, we need to raise a banner to announce to all that our strength is in God
- [ ] We only overcome by calling on the name of God, not through our own strength
- [ ] Our Christianity is not just a passive faith , it is a persevering faith . Victory is assured
- [ ] In the church of God, every believer , whatever age and gender , has a role to play in the work of the kingdom.
- [ ] If the battle feels overwhelming, if your hands as tired , do not be dismayed , remember the Lord is our banner . We only have to focus on his strength in our lives, then we keep on being overcomers.
- [ ] Jehovah nissi - The Lord is our banner ! with God on our side , we are assured of victory!
We are More Than Conquerors ! Romans 8 vs 31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Exodus 17:8-16
The Amalekites Defeated

8 The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.”

10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.

14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.”

15 Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner. 16 He said, “Because hands were lifted up against[a] the throne of the Lord,[b] the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.”

Holding on to our Faith Exodus 17:1-7, preaching by pastor Gitau . 👣
- Even when following God, you can have problems
- 17:1-2 : the children of Israel appeared as if they were going round in circles , however it was “as the Lord commanded - they were following God’s word
- 🌊 Vs 3 - When the children of Israel were desperate for water , God asked Moses to use the stick he had used to open up the river Nile. He used the same stick to strike the rock for fresh water
- Let us remember the promises of God , and the way He has helped us in the past, and use the same confidence to face new challenges
- When the children of Israel complained against God, God encouraged Moses to go with some of the elders and perform another miracle for them.
- Even when people around you are complaining and doubt is rising , find others who can remember the promises of God with you to raise your faith .
- 📢 As we read from the book of Revelation 12:11 “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”
-The saints were able to overcome the devil’s attacks through the blood of the lamb (the work of salvation that God has already completed for us) and how the saints testified of the ways God had already helped them before .
- Let us focus on what God has done , and overcome new challenges by reminding ourselves of His power through sharing testimonies and encouraging each other in fellowship.
