How do we draw near to God? Exodus 24 - pas. Zack Mathenge
- In this chapter , God introduces the key reason why he rescued them from Egypt ~ . To worship Him
- Freedom was not the only goal , God’s redemption is not just “out of”; it always includes “into”; - now that you are redeemed , what next ?
- What does it mean for a redeemed people to draw near to God?
- How do we draw near to God? Ans: through His covenant
- We have been saved into good works . God is the initiator and sustainer of the covenant
1. The covenant is confirmed
2. Moses reads it to the people, then they hear and respond
- our covenant with God does not only consist of clear instructions on how to live, but the covenant also includes “the way to achieve redemption”.
- In the Old Testament , redemption was achieved through sacrificing oxen and lambs . For us today, Jesus death on the cross is the complete sacrifice .
- Our relationship with God has grown from being slaves in Egypt or when we were non believers /sinners, to a place where we have a covenant, a relationship with God
- We have been moved from slaves to children and heirs of God’s kingdom.
- Exodus 24:12 - 17; God called Moses “higher”; it is possible to be among the people of God, but God desires to show us His full holiness for us to experience him fully . In the Old Testament , only the chosen one could approach the holy place. But through Christ Jesus, ALL of us have ACCESS, Ephesians 2:18
- Just as Moses had to be separated to receive the instructions from God, even for us, sometimes it ma y be necessary to take some time out to hear God specifically on an issue
- In the covenant we learn not to just settle for being rescued , but let us enter the covenant with God and receive Hid word
- Let us not just “know about God”; but let us seek to “know God”

Exodus 23:20-30; how can we ever live up to God’s standards ? - Pas Gitau
- We need to remember that God is the one who had taken the initiative to help us in life
- Exodus 23: - God tells us that He has sent an angel ahead in the journey for us
- God is exhorting us to listen to His instructions
- God is encouraging us not to feel we have To fight for ourselves , if we obey his principles in life , God has. Promised us that he will remove obstacles in our way . To the Extent that even our enemies become his enemies
- God has promised to bless us. We should not aim to have it all at once , little by little God will increase us so that we grow in confidence and maturity in how to handle the magnitude of being God’s co-workers
- God will help us to grow and flex our spiritual muscles
- Our confidence is that it is God who has the roadmap.

God has called us to be His people, not for status but for service , to be a light to help other people come to Him.

Prayer and Fasting. As we journey through Exodus, our theme for this week is:

“From Receiving God’s Miracles to Becoming God’s Co-workers.”

Key Scripture:
“You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” — Exodus 19:4

The Lord who has faithfully carried us thus far is inviting us into a deeper relationship with Him—not merely as recipients of His blessings, but as partners in His kingdom purposes.

Throughout this week, may the Lord teach us:

🤝 To serve together.
🛡️ To walk in integrity.
👂 To hear His voice.
👑 To fulfill our priestly calling.
🙏 To live holy and obedient lives before Him.

Our prayer focus this week is:

“Lord, transform us from merely receiving Your blessings to faithfully partnering with You in advancing Your kingdom.”

🗓 Weekly Schedule

Monday – Day of Reflection

Tuesday to Thursday – Online Fellowship at 7:00 PM (Google Meet)

Friday – In-Person Prayer Fellowship at 7:00 PM (Church Hall)

May this be a week of renewal, deeper intimacy with God, and fresh surrender to His purposes.

“The Lord is inviting us not only to experience His miracles, but to walk with Him and participate in His mission.”

Blessings

Celebrating our 10th year on Facebook. Ten years of learning to walk with God in this city, ten years of learning that when we can ever be in our way. Our name comes from Ephesians 2:18 “Through Him, we both (you and me ) have ACCESS to the Father “🙏🤗🎉 welcome to Christ and become part of His family

Today we celebrated our fathers by listening to them share their journeys of fatherhood. It was positive to have a real and authentic family time. We thank God for all
The fathers in Access church that they are leaning on God to father them and to guide them as they fulfil the significant role of providing , protecting and priesthood in our homes

Exodus 19:1-25: Learning to hear the voice of God - pastor Gitau
- 📣 There are times when the journey may seem long , but that is whenGod is calling us to remember all the things he has done in the past and the victories he has taken us through.
- 📢 Just as with the children of Israel when God reminded therm that it is Him who carried them on “eagles wings” - we too need to remember our salvation is entirely God’s handiwork
- It is God who carries the weight the redemption work
- 📣 Vs 5: after rescuing the children of Israel, God introduces them to a transition to another level of covenantal relationship . At this level, we not only rely on what God can do , but on learning to listen to God and following His instructions to lead us to the destination
- 📣 There is a grace of receiving from God’s hand , but there is also a requirement to learn to obey His Word and reach the promised land that way . Vs 6 - we are people of great value, but our value comes from our relationship with God .
- 📣 1 Peter : we are God’s chosen people , a royal priesthood , a holy nation, but there js a a reason to this special calling …..
- 📣 We are to be priests , our role is to show the nations how to follow God. Not just to flaunt our “special calling”: and lord it over the others
- If we sin, we lose that special touch we have with God, that which allows us to reach others with His grace
- 📣 The church is the new Israel . It is no longer a geographical and political entity . The church’s role is to obey God and to fulfil this priestly mandate, that of calling others into God’s marvellous light, calling others to become part of God’s kingdom.
- 📣 Vs 7: initially God had told Moses to throw his stick on the ground which turned to a snake, - , God started off by using marvellous miracles to show them the power of God. At this next level , God only sent Moses with his WORDS, not miracle works
- 👂God wants us to HEAR and DO his instructions
- 👂👂🏽 At this new transition level, God wants to create an opportunity for us to work in covenant with Him. In exodus 19 God is transitioning the children of Israel from just recipients of His miracles but Co-workers with Him to spread the kingdom to all peoples .
- 🗻 As Moses was on the mountain, we see a similar picture when Christ gave the sermon on the mount . He was calling people to see how God works and to learn to hear the voice of God.
- 🗻🏔️👂🏽May we learn to hear and obey the voice of God, and not just wait for him to perform miracles .

Exodus 18 : How to do the work of God, preaching by Tony Gerald
- 👣 We are learning from the story of Exodus that the work of God requires an army, teamwork, partnership and collaboration.
- 👣 In chapter 18, we learn how to practically share out the tasks, and how we can be a people that actively participate in kingdom work.
- 👣 We Learn that no human being can carry the load alone , even if they have the calling of God on their lives. Moses also had to learn this truth from an older maturer leader .
- 👣 Moses had obviously developed a good and respectful relationship with jethro
- 👣 At Moses’ lowest , he was received and nurtured by Jethro .
- 👣 Jethro was not even of the same faith as Moses , but through respect and interaction they related well.
- 👣 However because of the testimony of all the miracles God had done through Moses, Jethro acknowledged the power of God.
- 👣 Exodus 18:10-13) “Jethro was delighted to hear about all the good things the Lord had done for Israel in rescuing them from the hand of the Egyptians. He said, “Praise be to the Lord, who rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians and of Pharaoh, and who rescued the people from the hand of the Egyptians. Now I know that the Lord is greater than all other gods, for he did this to those who had treated Israel arrogantly.” Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and other sacrifices to God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a meal with Moses’ father-in-law in the presence of God.”
- 👣 Moses respected Jethro as he had cared and supported him, when he was not doing well. Despite now being an accomplished leader who has been used by God to do miracles , Moses remembered to honour Jethro
- 👣 May we always respect all people , whatever their earthly stations or our earthly privileges .
- 👣 Moses learnt from Jethro , how to administer the calling on his life .
- 👣 Whatever calling we have on our lives , we can’t do everything . Jethro advised Moses on how to delegate , giving him practical steps on how to delegate , Including personal specifications of the people he should recruit for the tasks .
- 👣 As we walk and work in the kingdom of God , there are other people who can partner with us to achieve the mission. People who are trustworthy , people who are fair , people who don’t take bribes . We need teamwork So that we can achieve the ministry that God has put in our hands
- ✊🏽 May we be people of integrity
- ✊🏽 May we be people who can interact respectfully with others , even if they are different from us.
- ✊🏽May we be people who can listen and receive advice in fulfilling the call of God on our lives .
