Network of Christian Peace Organisations - NCPO

Network of Christian Peace Organisations - NCPO Resources, witness & campaigning. UK. We campaign on issues including high military spending.

The NCPO is an ecumenical network committed to peace as central to the meaning of church community and the teachings of Jesus. We are a broad group of organisations in the Christian peace tradition committed to furthering peace and encouraging our churches to support and join the peace movement. We believe that sustainable security could be reached through redirecting the billions spent on the military and arms industry towards climate mitigation, health, welfare, housing, education and aid.

In this moment of global geopolitical conflict, many communities are experiencing pain, anger, and grief. On Friday June 26th we are facilitating a one day workshop to help community members and leaders navigate these strong emotions well, before they harden in conflict. Our facilitator and collaborator Tanya Forgan brings years of experience with somatic training and grief work and will be teaching us practical tools to navigate current social tensions without overwhelm or burnout. Bursary and discounted places available. All details on our event page.

Since the attack in North Belfast on Monday evening, the thoughts and prayers of the Corrymeela Community remain with the victim and his family. We hope and pray that he receives the care and support he needs at this difficult time.

The violence and unrest that has followed has been deeply distressing to witness. We join with community and civic leaders in calling for calm, and in holding onto the belief that peace is always possible — even in the darkest of moments.

Times like these can leave people feeling fearful, isolated and without hope. Division and distrust can quickly take root when communities are hurting. It is precisely in moments like this that the work of coming together — of genuine encounter, dialogue and relationship — matters most.

Corrymeela is committed to that work. For over sixty years, people from across different backgrounds, traditions and beliefs come together to build understanding and trust as we practise everyday peacebuilding. That work continues, and it continues because of people like you who believe a more peaceful future is possible.

Next Sunday (21 June, 3pm) we will be holding a Service for the Day of Reflection at St. Peter's Cathedral, Belfast. People from different faiths and traditions will gather to reflect on our past and to hope for a better future. We invite you to join us as we renew our commitment to building a society where no one lives in fear and where we find in each other trust, dignity and peace.

It’s by Christ's death that we can love our enemies, seek peace with those that want to harm us, and refuse to take vengeance when we are wronged.
